I just recently upgraded my grill and was trying to find a solution for the factory bracket covering up some of the grill. I didn't like the option of drilling a second set of hole to move down the grill. So I came up with this clamp on idea. The bracket is made from powder coated aluminum with stainless steel hardware.

Here are a few pics.:)

you made this yourself or they sell it?

i got my plates for my new 300 the other day, when i went to install it i wanted to see how the front is supported onto the bumper. there are NO holes drilled. It clamps onto 2 of the verticle lines on the grille.

so i have 2 options:
1) take it off, put it in my trunk. if i get pulled over, ill be like "hey officer, i JUST purchased a bracket, here it is (show it to him) i am on my way home and will install it ASAP"

2) I guess I cant use the factory bracket with a Bentley style grille, so then ill get this bracket you made or bought

Yes I made this in my home, with the exception of the powder coating. I searched all over the net trying to find something but I didn't see anything that would work. So I came up with this idea.

Hey appreciate all the feedback. I probably could have just put new holes in it or tried to drill new holes in the stock bracket and use the existing two holes. But I liked how the car looked without the bracket at all. But unfortunately in VA I have to have a front plate. At least with this one I can take it off and put on within a few minutes.

Why didn't Chrysler think to use a different bracket that wouldn't have covered up the grill in the first place?

I think there are laws regarding how far off the ground the license plate must be, and in order to comply, that was how the bracket had to be designed. Could be wrong though.

No, if you look closely at the last pic you will see that there is a rubber grommet between the post, in the center of the bars. This is to ensure the bracket does not contact the fascia.

Here is a pic looking down on the bracket.

Nice work. So the bracket stays attached to the fascia with spring tension, or is there a clamp attached to the bottom of the fascia?

No springs, I used a front and back support bar to clamp it to the two post. The ends that contact the post are protected so as not to damage them. I've used this on my car for the past couple of weeks, during high speeds, taking it on and off, and I haven't had any problems at all. The post are pretty sturdy and this whole setup is very lightweight. I was trying other locations, but no other solutions at this time.

Thanks for the feedback.

VIP,

love the interior lights and the mad eyelids. I just have to convince the wife, thats the hard part.

Are there any laws about the brightness of the license plate light, or it could be confusing for drivers?

So, I definitely planned on getting one of these to lower my front plate. Out of curiosity I took the front bracket off to see what it would look like below the grill and realized that the da*n dealer had drilled and screwed the bracket on!!!!!
Now I figure I just mod the original bracket and screw it in the already existing holes. Too bad.

If you don't like the look of the modded bracket, let me know cuz you have a couple options. You can either get fascia fixed by body shop or get professional color matched bolt plugs. Me personally I didn't like the way the stock bracket fit after trying to mod it. Either way good luck.
