I went to NYC this past weekend and stayed at the Westin in Time Square, a four star hotel, a very chic and modern hotel. Of course I had to valet my car and pay $45 a day for parking in the garage. Upon check out they get my car for me, I take one turn and I hear a noise like my tire just rubbed on the fender. So I inspect the tires and discover both front fenders and tires were damaged. I've put 3000 miles on these 22' rims and tires with no problem, these jackasses drove two blocks(supposedly) and damaged my fenders and tires. I call the manager of the Westin and she tells me they are not affilated with the garage and have to go to them and fill out a claim with them. So I go to the garage and show them the damage. They are trying to tell me there not responsble because they are not stock wheels and tires and the tires are too big!! I had these rims and tires for over two months and 3k miles without a single problem. They keep saying they are not responsible! WTF!!! I drop off my car in new condition and expect to get it back the same way. if it was an accident...hey shit happens but it wasn't, it was abuse of my car!!!! and pretty obvious abuse at that. Now I have to go through all kinds of red tape and still they are trying to dodge responsiblity. Can you beleive this crap!!

Yes, as i have lost a lot of faith in my fellow Americans. Used to be community minded and honest, hardworking folks... almost everybody was. Seems now that many of us only look out for ourselves while we claim to be honest, hardworking, etc...

That really sucks a big one :eek:uch:

I for one would rather walk then let some idiot do what they did to you.

Good luck...they always seem to try to put the blame on you, like your rims and tires were the reason for the damage...ya right!

Sorry to hear the bad news...that stinks! We very rarely utilize valet parking with any of our vehicles, except at the various Marriott hotels/resorts we've stayed in...we've never experienced any problems at any of their and their affiliated locations. When it comes to shopping malls and restaurants, we'll just walk the few extra steps. :wink1:

Just a suggestion, I often use valet for the convenience of better parking, but I always insist on self-parking when I do...Classy, I hope you get everything worked out in short order and with the least hassle possible. I also hope you got names and took photos. If you haven't already done so, begin a journal detailing day by day the who-what-where-when-how-why of this problem, it will provide you with much credibility when it gets down to it, as well as provide a great reference tool for you in case this becomes a long drawn out process. G'luck!

That sucks, but bottumline they are responsilbe. They will try ever stunt in the book to get out of it, but don't let them up for air. Generally I valet, but I park my own car!! If there's a problem with that, then I find out who I need to talk too or I don't stay. When I was in Veags for SEMA with Victor from VIP, there were times that we left and parked else where.

Wheel and tire setup info please? Offsets?

Sorry to hear about your car. I valet my car everywhere I go and tip very well so they remember me. The car is rarely parked anywhere but out front.
I have the 22x8.5 rims and the tires are 265/35/22 lowered with Eibach pro kit springs. I am also a very good tipper, take care of me and I'll take good care of you
I think it may have been because I have Mass plates. Damn Yankee fans!!! just kidding...lol

hey classy you should call your insurance company and file a claim. There is HUGE subrogation potential in your case. Your insurance company can and will go after the owners of the parking facility, and you can get your car fixed.
I work for USAA claims department and we deal with this all the time, them telling you your rims are too large and thats what caused the damage is a bunch of poop!

I used to have an apprentice work for me and he used to work weekends parking cars for extra money. He used to tell me how he and some of his co-workers would joy ride some of the high horse power cars and the owners never knew. Also I had a fender dented badly once from a valet parked car, and because of it being on the passenger side, I didn't see it untill the next day. Now I never have a valet park my cars.

We just stayed at the Westin Copley in Boston this past weekend. And on the Sunday when we were leaving they brought our car around and the whole plastic cover that resides under the engine was hanging off the car and dragging on the ground. I reported that they said it was like that when I dropped it off

I'm suprised to see that with the 8.5's

This has happened with my 9.5's(15 offset and prokit), only when the wheel is turned sharply and a dip or driveway forces the tire into the wheel well, then cutting the tire and bending the lip in the process.
Get a bat and bend the lip back, and bill the valet service for the cost of the tire.

Those scorps aren't cheap either.

I had the misfortune of loosing our valet parking ticket in vegas this year. Normally your not allowed in the Valet portions of the garage. They drove me around for 30 minutes looking for our 300 rental. Needless to say, I will NEVER use my own vehicle in a valet situation. Those guys are nuts. They race the cars through the garage to drop them off and pick them up as quickly as poosible in order to get their tips in. Peeling out around corners, burning out through the garage. It was nuts. I was asking the guys if this is how its like, and he nas the nerve to tell me this is a mild day... Beware of Valets. Would you give your car to your 17 year old neighbor? You know him. Now think about doing the same thing with a stranger who makes his money from tips and high volume...

I had a similar experience last Mother's Day. I took my wife to the Westin Hotel in Seattle, for lunch; again valet parking. We took my F350 Dually Crew Cab, as my 300 was on order, and there was something wrong with the Minivan.
I come out after a great lunch, and give them my ticket, & they give the keys to some 23ish gal to get my truck, that I can alredy see, (it is parked right by the exit of the garage. She pulls the truck out of the space, and up to the ticket machine/barrier arm as you leave the garage. The arm goes up, and she cuts it hard left, and hits the guard posts around the ticket machine, with my rear dually fender flair, & comes to an abrupt stop. While we are watching her.
The shift supervisor, my wife and I walk over to the truck, and the supr. asks this girl if she wants him to get the truck off of the post? She gets out and lets him have it.
They were VERY apologetic, and the supr. gives me his card, tells me to get some estimates, & give him a call. They had if fixed, and got me a rental car while it was in the shop.
Inconvenient, but was about a painless as they could make it.

Uhh....has anyone seen Ferris BullersDay Off??? I belive that about covers it. I NEVER let anyone drive/park my car. And don't think that your car is being treated any better at the dealership.
In 2000 I bought a new Eclipse GT. The next morning. Sitting at a red light. A gal talking on her cell phone and putting on her makeup slams into me. Car had 86 mi. on it. It goes to the body shop which is the Mitsubishi dealer where I bought the car. They had it for 34 days. When I got the car back it had 456 mi on it!!!
I was like WTF!! I came unglued. The owner of the dealership would do nothing.
Last time I will ever buy from them or a Mitsubishi for that matter due to the treatment and attitude of the dealership.
Dood luck to you. If it was me I would use the old bat trick alright...on someone head.
I don't ever leave my car at the Chrysler dealership either. They have a bunch of young kids working there who move the cars around. I have watched them take customers cars and burn the tires, sit in them and play the radio and smoke, etc.
It is a shame the way things are now days.
