hi guys i have a 2008 charger wit application: 9.668 and gracenote 881.

can i update directly to the 2.404 and the new gracenote_6905-rer?

Also is there a way to backup the old application and gracenote in cause something goes wrong or I dont like it?

I read that you can copy the image off of the hard drive and made a new hdd but I am not sure if the will back up the software.

 

HI guys I decided to update my 2008 Dodge charger MYgig RER from 9.668 to 2.404,

I made the 9.713 cd, 9.807, and 2.404 using Nero Express, they all burned properly, my problem is when I go to use them, insert the cd , my RER unit recognizes the CD, it asks if I want to upgrade from 9.668 to 9.713, i hit yes and then I get a message saying wrong disk installed, update aborted. This happens with both the 9.713 and 9.807 cds.
The brand of disk I used is ONN CD-R and Verbatim Cd-R.

Could this be a cd issue and what brand and type disk do you recommend or hardware?

 

if someone could please reply I would really appriciate it, I managed to burn a good copy of the 9.713 software it updated, and restarted with the dodge symbol, but the message about updating the sowftawre did not comeup, it looked like the cd could not be read. so I figured it was done , but now nothing works expect for navigation, I cannot adjuct volume, cds get stuck, radio shows station but no sound, same with sat.


What can I do to fix this?

I just want to make sure I understand correctly after lots of reading. My unit is running version 9.807. I've read that updates from older versions must be done in stages, but since I'm at 9.807, I can go directly to 2.404. Am I correct in thinking this?

Everything works correctly right now, what will I gain by upgrading? Are there any pitfalls to expect in doing this? I'm not changing the head unit from another vehicle, or doing anything out of the ordinary, I would simply like to upgrade the software if it's worthwhile.

Once the software is upgraded, I can then update Gracenote by burning this on a DVD rather than a CD. What will this update yield?

MY advice to you is if everything is working properly do not update, it is not worth the risk. I had rer 730n on 9.688 and updated to 9.713 now i have no sound from am fm sat , nav works and so does aux. The messed up part is the update went through with no problems, whats even worst is the disk drive does not read anymore so i cant even attempt a reinstall. dealer cost is 140 for diagnostic and 1500 for new radio. I managed to find one on ebay for 350, and that is cheap compared to what everyone else wants. Even to repair it I was quoted 450, this company also does low to high can bus conversions. I would love to know how this repair company fixes a bad flash without the disk drive working or if its even possible. I think they just replace the bad motherboard with a new one which would also work with a conversion too.

Take my advice dude, do not update unless you are willing to put up with no help or if you know how to resolve a bad update.

 

I did end up fixing it. I sent my radio to navifix.eu. The hard drive was replaced and all the systems upgraded. It took a while, but now enjoying the working sound system again.

dealer cost is 140 for diagnostic and 1500 for new radio.

Not too bad, the stealership quoted 4500€ for the new radio to me

 

Hello everyone. I have the following problem. I tried to reinstall mygig system from 9.556 to 2.404 without doing 9.713; 9.807. The installation went well, but once the system is restarted, the installation remains incomplete and looks for some front controller and restarts in 10 seconds and does nothing else. None of the buttons works to be able to remove the drive. Does the device mean broken forever? Is there a way to fix software or I'm a new device? Thanks in advance!

 

MY radio also had the same problem, As you can see from reading back in this thread . I was told thast it was completely done , there was no way of fixing it outher then sending it in to someone to have it reflashed.

i went and bought a new radio but I wanted to figure out what was the problem with my radio so I ordered a new hard drive which did not fix the problem. That would be my first advice to you since your symptoms are a bit different then mine.
My update never finished but the radio turned on but with no sound , and none of the radio , sat, and disks would not read.

It took me some time but I figured out the onboard chip needed to be reflashed. I bought a CANBUS adapter (approx. $30)so I could see the messages sent out by the radio and also make the radio turn on outside the car since the radio will not turn on without seeing the car. Also need a FTDI chip($12) to be able to send commands to the radio, also you will need a 12v power supply, I used an old computer PSU.
If you can get this thing I can try to lend you a hand with trying to get back to life or if you are not interested in getting these thing I have a working RER for sale , I have tried it in my 2008 charger with no problems.

Forgot to mention this does consist of you having too dissassembly the radio and solder three wires to a small finger board on the radio. So if you do not soldering equipment this is an extra cost.

 

On Thursday I will go to the dealer to find out what can be done about the radio. Give me a description about your MYGIG RER.my is with a slow bus and it is REW for Europe.I'll get your offer up front, but let me know what they're going to say about the radio service.Thank you for your help!

 

I am not sure of my radio will work for you. The RER rasios are for north america. I have heard of them being converted to converted to REW but I have not done it.

 

Hello guys, my gps is stuck in the same location, reception is good at least 6 satellites, when i drive the gps arrow just rotate in the same spot.

i updated from 9.651 to 2.404 directly , and i have a 2006 with lockpick, i think i have to downgrade the software. any ideas?

Hi my lockpick adapter is chr2-01z ,i just changed the jumper 3 up on the non navigation position, and everything is the same
i just turn off the car , changed the jumper position, and turn it on again, do i have to disconnect the radio prior to do that?

Hi, i update my unit from 9.668 to 9.713, but now i don't have audio and can't read disks. In menu is audio control grey. And unit is slower. Before update all works. Is the any solution then replace unit.

 

1st you can try some of the things mentioned in this thread like disconnecting the battery, the iod fuse etc.
I had the same problem after updating and disk would not read, audio all messed up. Only way to fix was to send it for repair but I wanted to fix it my self and after a lot of research and determination I got it done. I fix my unit and another unit here. You will need some hardware . Can adapter , 12v power supply, serial adapter, computer, a lot of time.

 

Battery disconnection and fuse trick have been tried. I think it is necessary to overwrite the software. Vb lets you instruct me how you did what you did with the program where the software was found and how the cable was connected.

 

Let me look on my laptop I think I wrote it down. I will also try to find the original research I did and the hardware needed.

 

Hdd replace didn't work for me.

 

Did you ever figure it out? I'm considering upgrading my 08 300c from 9.668 to the current version but I keep hearing these horror stories on here lol.
