This module is located under the driver's seat (front, outboard side). The part number is on the top and I don't have the superman vision to read the part number with removing the cushion (the information is visible; but, because of the position, hard to read). Before I do that, would this number be elsewhere?

Funny you should post this issue. I set my steering column's position all the way down. I have noticed ever since I got my car that the wheel only goes down about 80% of the way and then I have to hit the memory button to get it to go all the way down or manually do it with the stalk. One day it went all the way down, but now it is only going to 80% down. What again is the fix? The dealer will do a pcm flash? As far as dtc's, I haven't had a check engine code or anything, just the issue with the wheel not going to it's proper position. Please explain these questions if you can. Thx.

Issue: Steering column tilts approximately 7/8 of the full down travel

Recommendation: This is design intent, do not replace the steering column assembly for this condition. If the lever is released and pressed again, the full down travel is achieved.

This is exactly what i though as well, this was my inititial instinct. Just like the old sun-roofs that stopped half way closed, then you had to hit the button again. I guess they don;t want to crush people if they have big legs????

Anyway, I guess my car is fine, but it still seems to have a memory of it's own. Should I have them flash the module anyway? And where did you get this info, can you cut and paste the entire TSB or pm it to me. You the knowledge man Resumespeed. Thx as always.

tip on getting hard to read numbers

Something I tried that helped me find a hard to read number under the dash of another car might work to read the module number under our 300's seats.

Use a digital camera. Keep taking and viewing the pictures till you get something that is readable. If it is just quite not readable, then take it to your computer and use Adobe Photoshop or something similar to blow up and enhance the number.

I read a keyless entry code on my '96 SHO this way. By the time I blew it up and enhanced it I could read all but two numbers and they were good enough to guess at it being between two numbers. Second try worked.

Lots easier than trying to bend and get under the dash, or in this case, under the seat.

You don't need to even see the viewfinder or screen, just keep taking pictures till one comes out OK, delete all the bad ones.

Love digital photography!

I checked mine. The part # is: 04602441AJ. I assume that with this number, I am eligible for the flash. The only thing is that my seat/wheel memory seems to be OK, which of course is fine.

I wonder why when the tsb lists certain parts criteria for repair, sometimes, like in my case, there is no problem encountered even without the tsb update.

Is the memory supposed to work when you click the clicker. My DTS does. SO when my wife drives and doesn't reset, everything goes to the way I like it when I click unlock.
Pappa Doc,

I don't have my SRT-8 yet, so I can't speak specifically for this car. But on my 2005 Pacifica it does work with the remote with one caveat. I have my remotes set to unlock the driver's door with the first press and the rest with the second press. The memory seats, etc. will start to adjust between drivers with the first press of the remote, but if I press a second time to open all the doors then the seats, mirrors, etc. all stop adjusting immediately.

Don't know if this is the same on the 300 or not. Hope this helps.

Mike
