Nor300Cal is in So Cal area and today he finally got his rims and we met for about a half hour. Just a great time and with good conversation. I took a few photos of the cars. The two cars have 22" rims, lowered tint, and Nor300Cal has a E&G grill. He was still getting use to the look, I thought it looked great.

Nor300Cal will update give an update on Monday. He drove down to So Cal for a cruise out of Long Beach. He came down a day early and had the rims installed and this morning (Friday) he's heading over to Zoomers to have Ron put on his exhaust. I'm sure he'll give us a nice update when he returns, as he has a 400 mile drive home.

Nor300Cal knows that you were going out of town. I wonder how he feels today about his choice. He told me yesterday "man these rims are big". But that's why we do 22's.

DEAD tired...

Hi everybody.

Thanks for the nice words about the wheels! Thanks for posting the pics fatchance. Just got back from my cruise to Ensanada with some buddies for a bachelor party....eeeewwwww, it was ugly. I certainly am not 21 anymore. My body had a heart-to-heart with me this morning about ever trying to put it through that again. For those of you who have not seen fatchance's car in person, it is GORGEOUS!! Sorry for the drool :32:. I'll post pics hopefully this weekend. I have to fly to Vegas for work for a couple of days on Wednesday. Here's some specs for now:

D-forged wheel...Site
3-piece forged
22X9.5
+18 offset

fatchance is right...it's taken me a little time to fall in love with these wheels just because of the huge change. But I dressed up my baby on Thursday night in LA before I left for my cruise on Friday and it was a million times better. I typically would never allow someone to wash my car, but it was a 100% hand-wash. It made all the difference in the world to see them with a clean car with dressed tires. Now I'm in love  . The other issue is that the front driver's side was rubbing. Just eye-balling it it seemed like the camber was off. So I was a little dissappointed that they weren't perfect out of the box after my fiasco with the Gianelle V5's. So I had to stick around in LA today so that Shoreline down in Huntington Beach could roll my fenders. Now...she's perfect. Those guys are a class act and squeezed me in because they knew I needed to get on the road home. I do have some insight for those of you shopping 22s...make sure that you are prepared to do a little extra work. Personally...I think that the tire you choose makes all the difference in the world as to whether or not you'll rub. What I mean by that is that if you take a Pirelli Asymetrico, Kumho, Hankook, Michelin Pilot, NITTO, etc in a 265/35/22...they're all gonna fit different due to sidewall design. I bet if I had put Hankook's on I wouldn't have rubbed because their design has a low profile side wall which avoids the rub in the front. Oh...I'm just gonna be quiet. It's a complicated subject honestly. I'll leave at if anyone has questions about my wheels or the fitment let me know. If any of you are interested in D-forged wheels the address and phone number are on the link. Ask for Ernie (owner) or Chad. They'll take care of you...their great guys. Ernie pretty much carries every wheel label known to man, but these D-forged are made especially for him by Intro Wheel who makes iforged. The chrome on these wheels is spectacular and the quality looks great. I'll post pics as soon as I can. Sorry for the scatter-brained post...I'm just running on fumes.

Will check in later....need sleepy

Thanks again everyone!

absolutely gorgeous! Wish I couldve been down there to meet you guys. Your choices on rims impresses me. Very elegant. Too often I see outrageous rims put on these cars. It's nice to see something sporty as well as classy.
Once the initial shock of the Zoomers set in.. how did you like them? I still find myself with a lead foot..eating up gas. The sound of mine has only gotten sweeter.

Nor300Cal, I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to go down to the OC to see you while you were there... next time for sure! Happy to hear you're growing fond of your new wheels, they look beautiful! Can't wait to hear how you like the Zoomers... rest up and let us know!

BTW... Never too old to party! I'm doing the Ensenada cruise in September with a large crazy group of family and friends for my youngest son's 30th :yikes: ... can't wait!

A little rested...

Well...at least I gotta a little bit of sleep. I have to fly to Vegas tomorrow for work and my baby is dirty. I refuse to post pics of a dirty car. I will try and take some pics of the wheels and exhaust on Saturday. Here's my follow up opinion of the Zoomers...First, Frank and Ron @ AP are awesome. They're friendly and great to work with and obviously take pride in their work. My new favorite part of my day is using my remote start while walking up to my car and hearing it start. I mean it sounds soooooo good it makes me want to cry :17: . The performance and response of the pedal has definitely picked up a bit. You know...it's a SOTP opinion, so it's hard to gauge. IMO it has also woken up my Volant which always sounded beautiful, but was more bark than bite. Now...interior noise...that's the part that's going to be up for debate. It is definitely louder in the cabin, the question is how much louder? There is definitely a throaty resonance in the cabin upon throttling when it downshifts. It doesn't bother me at all. I can see how it might bother some who wanted something more understated. If you want understated this exhaust is not for you IMO. If you want to wake the beast that's hiding under your bed :hitwithro , then give Ron and Frank a call. Now let me say this also to be fair...even though the car and her growl are more throaty it doesn't detract from the "class" effect of the car. It's definitely still classy. I think if you deaden the trunk with Fatmat or some other equivalent you could have the best of both worlds. Most of the interior noise increase that I heard seemed like it was coming through the back seats from the trunk. Now let's talk about MDS. On the freeway the Zoomers are quiet. I hear a little bit more than I heard with my Volant but not much at all. Some of the people with Zoomers on here have tried to describe the "drone" that you hear with other systems. I don't hear drone...what I hear with Zoomers is a change in pitch. What's weird is I hear it more at 60mph than I do at 70-75mph. The pitch change seems to be more noticeable at lower speeds when MDS kicks in. But I definitely wouldn't describe it as drone. All-in-all these two mods have been fantastic! I wouldn't change a thing unless fatchance wants to swap me his wheels :wink1: . If anyone has any other questions please let me know. I'll try and get some pics up soon.

It's good to hear everything worked out for you. You've got to be beat, you were on the go the minute you got down to So Cal. How was the drive back? From your post it sounds like the car is where you wanted it to be, not including the attention you got on the drive home.

Hey Steven. Yep, me too. I can't keep my foot out of the darn pedal. I've definitely settled in to them. The cruise I went on was for a bachelor party for a buddy of mine. Six of us went. I had to parking my baby in a parking garage while I was gone...man was I worried. The reason why I bring that up is when we got off the boat yesterday and I walked into the parking garage my buddies and other people were parked right next to me. As soon as I started my car with remote start it was a head-turner. Man, I love the sounds of this exhaust! I still think I may deaden the trunk with a liner to minimize the interior resonance. Have you given any thought to that? Also what grade of fuel have you been running since your mods? Any change in fuel grade you think necessary? Paul and RC @ Shoreline say your back in the lab like a mad scientist on your car and that you might have some new plans. Anything you'd like to share???? PM me if it's cool to talk about it.

fatchance

Yup...I feel tired to the bones today. Sunday night/Monday morning we partied until about 4:30am on the boat. Woke up @ 8am. Sat on the damn boat for over 3hrs waiting to get off and go through customs. I drove to Buena Park to see if my tire guy could hook me up for rolling the fenders while I was down because I was pretty worried about fender damage on that front left side. His contact @ Intro referred to Paul over @ Shoreline. He called Paul and Paul said to send me over. I called Paul to get directions and he told me that he got slammed and couldn't cover it til' 2pm. So I drove over to HB...waited...BS'd with RC and Paul...and they finished up about 3pm. But it did give me a chance to drool all over the Lambo Gallardo they had up on the rack :32: . Of course ya gotta love LA traffic. When I hit 5 North in Santa Clarita it was 5pm. I got home in Folsom (20min east of Sacto) @ 9:45pm. Tried to catch my kids before bed but didn't make it. Plus it is my anniversary today so I had to run to the store for a card last night because like a typical man I wasn't prepared like I should have been. Then write some hugs and kisses to my sweetpea before I hit the sack. I think I rolled into bed at about 12:30am. So I'm a zombie today. But it was a blast and very cool to get a chance to meet you. I hope we can all hook up soon.

Great writup. The Ron and Frank are real good people.
As for the mad scientist... no real secret. I'm altering my wheels. Goin with a staggered set up. 4 inch lip on the rear and 3 on the front. I'm going to have the wheels taken apart, chroming the rims instead of the polished. Still keeping the centers gray. The guys at Shoreline know a guy/place that does REAL high end chroming. After seeing fatchances wheels.. how can ya not! I will also be powdercoating the mesh portion of my strut grille to match the wheels. James (aspendog) with 22elite.com is also doing my interrior which should be ready in about a week and a half.
Thats it.
Be sure to post more pics when get them. Your car looks reaaaaal nice.
