Hi

My 16 April 2013 300c SRT8 has just displayed a message saying the oil needs changing. Is this message based on kilometres? or the date? I have done 18,000 kms. Should I get it serviced now or wait until the 24,000 kms?

Google will tell you how to reset the service warning, then it's up to you when you get it serviced.

Put it in ignition and then press the loud pedal down 3 times quickly to get rid of the message.
As already said its up to you but I change my oil every 6000 kms and normal service every 12,000

If you have done 18,000 kms without changing the oil it was lo-o-o-o-ng past due!

The owner's manual has the instructions as to how to turn off the oil change light, as well as oil change interval requirements.

Holy crap... 24k...that's like 15000 miles! Errrr change it... soon... and if your going to do 15k oil changes then I'd hope you use synthetic! At 18k I'd be changing it if I were you...

The oil changing interval is dependent on your driving style. If you drive many short trips, the changing frequency will have to be more often. A diesel model, as the one I have, has a nominated interval at 20.000 km or 12.500 miles. But the engine also has 9,5 l or 2,5 gallons of oil for a 3.000 cc/ 180 cui engine. I use Castrol Edge 5W-40 full synthetic.
