Hi all

I am planning to build my own vehicle tracker using a raspberry pi.
Now, what I need is an (easy) way to find the wire that signalls that the engine is running. This is to say, the engine has to be running NOT the ignition to be on. This is because I would like to power the raspberry pi up ONLY when the engine has started.
I would also like to put the rpi in the boot where it is going to be much cooler.
Any help greatly appreciated!

If you have a 12v plug in the backseat that is probably the easiest. Just run a remote wire from trunk into car and under drivers seat. Thats what I did for my amp. Not sure of the year so you will want to make sure the outlet turns off with the engine first before running. If you have a fuse box in the trunk you may be able to tap into one there also. Good luck
