So I did it..I bought a 454.00 RADAR detector but this isnt your ordinary girl. The Passport 9500i has GPS in it so you can program in known speedtraps and cameras and it will alert you when your within range. The best part is the quality of receivers. I was picking up cops from almost 2 miles away when I was on the highway it was insane. Another feature is it has your speed off of GPS and flashes your speed whenever theres a spike and sensitvity increases as you go faster and vice versa. Occassionally I get a automatic door that sets it off but you can program it to filter out that frequency at that location. So if you are thinking of getting a RADAR detector I highly recommend this product and have been nothing but satisified.

I've got the 8500 x50, and have been nothing but satisfied with it as well. It's pretty much the 9500i without the GPS, since the 8500 was top of the line 3 years ago when I got it. I totally agree that the detection capabilities are the best out there for a windshield mounted unit. I'll be getting a custom installed unit sometime this year, but you bet your ass that I'll be sticking with escort.
