Took my wife's 300C to the dealer yesterday for two squawks.

One - I had the infamous CRRAAACK! sound coming from the dash (sounded like the sunroof to me, windshield to my wife). They performed the TSB in two-tenths of an hour.

Two - and here's the wierd one, folks - my rain-sensing wipers had failed. In my case, the wipers would come on constantly at all times, even when the windshield was dry.

After screwing around with it for two hours, they came to the conclusion that the windshield has to be replaced. WTF?? Is the sensor glued to the windshield with that eternity glue made from boogers and barnacles?

What part of this scenario do I not understand? Oh, well. I guess I'll get rid of that teeny-tiny rock chip.

One known cause is delamination. Verify that the laminating material has not seperated from the glass and sensor. (look for air pockets)

This can cause false readings.

Hope this helps.

Oh, one other thing...I don't believe the sensor and windshield are available separately. I.E. a new windshield will come w/the sensor in place.

That's it then. There is definitely an air pocket between the glass and the sensor. It covers about 40-50% of the surface area of the sensor.

Jeez! Sounds like another engineering miracle. Sensor comes loose - buy a new windshield.

Oh well - Chrysler's problem.
