Does anyone know what this red light is suppose to indicate?

It is the one below and between the fuel and speedometer.

Same position as the odometer reset button put on the opposite side on the gauges.

I saw this light on one time when my son was showing one of his buddies the NAV and stereo system but have not seen it on since.

The owners manual says nothing of this light.

I think that is the security system armed light. It blinks once every couple of seconds when the car is locked.
Thanks...

Thats what I was thinking but I have never seen it blink but then I really
haven't paid any attention to it when the car has been locked up.

Funny the owners manual says nothing about this that I have read

"C"Bandit and Brilliant Black Hemi-

I have answers to the $64,000 question. BrilliantBlackHemi is on the right track, It is part of the security system in the car, but what the indicator light is a confirmation of the correct key (SentryKey system) that is inserted in the ignition switch. The car has a built in immobilizer system similar to the GM PassKey system. The ignition keys for our cars contain a transponder chip that is matched to a receiver in the car. If a key is cut to the car, but not programmed to the car's electronics, the car will fail to start, even though the key is cut to the ignition lock cylinder. If I remember correctly, the engine will start, but stop running after a few seconds after the wrong key is detected in the ignition switch.

I hope this information helps.

Sincerely yours,

Brian T. Carotenuto
