Yep I saw that & it looks like just 2 wires in , this either means the video in switches the screen for the camera or the lockpick does something else to trigger the screen change ?

The lockpick once connected gives a third 'mode' VES which is what you would get if you connected the factory rear seat entertainment DVD player and screen. It then uses the Reverse camera input to give you the video on the nav screen. You can also connect a reverse cam in too which is selected when you engage reverse.

Sorry, my above post got nowhere in explaining what I understand about it: you need the lockpick device to 'fool' the headunit into thinking the VES system is connected, I guess it will be CANBUS or MELBUS, not as simple as just connecting up a camera to the existing slot and changing the menu etc. I believe it needs to see an external device (lockpick or factory VES) before that mode exists on the head unit. Hope this helps

Don't forget to factor in import duty and VAT on everything including shipping. It adds a nasty surprise if you're not expecting it.

Good luck

Hi there I'm very happy to be here :)

Mostly I am interested to pair my android phone Samsung Galaxy S2 to the REJ, basically to play music, but could also appreciate handsfree system too; my REJ is connected to a Boston Acoustics system.

I was struggling to find a way to connect my phone to the REJ, it looked like the only way was a handsfree car kit such as Parrot, however connections through the boston acoustics system looked trivial, loosing part of REJ functionality, but reading further brought me here.

As I own a MY2007 Grand Cherokee (although sold at november 2006), I hope my REJ has the video input.

If so I have some questions for you all:

- I am a hifi enthusiast and in my previous car had a bluetooth A2DP system, with amazing audio quality! So, I would like to know if the audio quality through this lockpich is very good or simply "good/average";

- Do you think it is possible to couple lockpick with a handsfree car kit? For example, connect the lockpic to the REJ and use a handsfree kit's output to the left/right inputs?

- Does the lockpick enables some steering wheel controls functionality, such as prev/next track in iphone or android phones?

- How does the iphone/phone video-out works? Do you need specific cables to achieve this? My Android phone has a MHL/HDMI out cable, for example...

Merry Christmas to everyone !

BTW, the Samsung Galaxy has a 3,5" video/out cable.... I could use that for video purposes and leave audio out management to the handsfree/BT unit....

the lock pick enable you to use the satnav when driving and watch dvd's in drive, it also comes with a audio/video harness which gives input and outputs via ria cables, plus camera inputs

pm me if you need one

cheers

This the idea: pair the locpick with a Bluetooth music player handsfree car kit. Read on!

Usually a handsfree car kit (Nokia, Parrot) would be plugged at the REC/REJ output plug, however on euro models, it will also need an ISO SOT cable converter to allow muting car stereo during phone calls.

Almost there, BUT the handsfree car kit music playback facility still needs an aux input on the REC/REJ car stereo to stream music. That's where the locpick comes handy!

The handsfree car kit has a 3,5" jack output for left&right channels for music streaming - Using a proper jack-to-RCA cable I could use Lockpicks RCA plugs for music, while the car kit's muting ISO plugs would be used below the lockpick to mute everything on phone call.

Briefly this would be the connection chain:

** REC/REJ car stereo backside socket **-> ** Lockpick plug ** -> ** ISO SOT adapter ** -> Car kit muting cables

The available lockpick video cable could be used to output video signal from the phone. There could be a slight out of sync between audio and video due to Bluetooth audio processing and the cable-connected video, but this wouldn't be a major issue because I would use the video channel just to show the phone screen on the REC/REJ display (music player or tom tom on the phone, so no videos, no lipsync problem!)

What do you think?

the could get a simply parrot hands free with iso lead for around £50, that sorts the phone out and the lockpick for music/video

thats the way i would go? or change the head unit?? for a sat nav double dinn

- I don't want to change the REJ, although it is an obvious peace of crap; however a double DIN Alpine would be EASY targeting for robbers, so let's keep the REJ
- I own already the Nokia CK-300 with phone muting and music streaming via A2DP
- I just need to buy the lockpick and the ISO cable

CostelEtech rec lockpick is a nice piece of kit and well worth every shilling! And guess what, it didnt effect the airbag lights either. ;)

Got mine set up wiv a freeview box, like to watch topgear on Dave Channel & SkyNews. And if you have rear ves, you will need to emulated the sound seperately via a wired or wireless FM modulator because the sound slot will be then reserved to power the sound for the rear ves. A wired FM modulator cost me a pony, and the antenna adaptor is about a score, and iso slot for the Parrat, only a tenner. Simples...
