Remote Start

Hello all,

My C should be in next week. I'm trying to order acc's for it. Dealer says that they cannot get a remote start kit for the 300c. Even though they have a part number and it is available at mopar.com. They tell me that it may not have been released? WTF? Also, I see at mopar.com that it states to order an appropriate wiring installation kit.

Has anyone had this option installed? If so, do you have part numbers for the install kit?

Thanks,

I ordered a Mopar remote start and have been waiting. DC told me (email) that they would be available end of June. Still waiting for the dealer to call. Keep us posted.
According to the local dealer's parts guy, Chrysler's remote starter for the 300C won't be coming out until after August. For the longest, Chrysler has only listed the harness module kit on their website's "Build & Price" application (P/N 82208859). However, I've noticed that they just added ther other required part (installation kit, P/N 82208995) too, so maybe the complete system will be available for ordering real soon. I hope so. My wife's gonna kill me if I replace her remote-starting Taurus with a non-remote-starting 300C...Hemi or no Hemi!!!
What's the deal with "Remote Start"? Is the attraction to remotely start the car to warm it up (or cool it down) a few minutes before you want to drive off? Does it give you an option to just start the car without unlocking the doors for security? In Australia the authorities have outlawed Turbo Timers because they reckon it encouraged thefts so I bet the remote start option will not be offerred here!

Yes, it does do everything you stated. I live in the midwest, where I find it particularly invaluable in the Winter months. Re: its operation, when you remote start the car, it automatically locks all doors before starting the engine. When you get in the car you have to insert the key and turn the ignition on before taking the car out of Park, or it will automatically kill the engine. On my (diesel) Excursion, it has an automatic start delay (8 seconds I think) to allow the glow plugs to warm up before starting the engine.

Ford sells a version that integrates an alarm system with the remote start option. Unfortunately, I've not seen the Chrysler version in action so I can't comment on its operation. However, I think the dealer said DC has already started selling this option for the Pacifica and (I think) Town & Country.
Thanks for the description C-Class. It will be interesting to see if they include that feature over here but I reckon they won't.
