I read somewhere here that you can remove the engine cover & drive around without it, however I just want to double check that this is ok.

I personally think it looks ugly & would love to permanently remove it and just have the engine naked & visible, but is that advisable?

Would dust & other crap get into the engine then, and cause issues, since the cover itself does look dirty.

You can take it off with no problem, it might get dirty a little faster, but dirt gets under the cover eventually anyway. Or you can go in this direction.

It will be ok to run without it. You may end up wanting to clean up some of the wires and hoses eventually.

Cars ran for decades without plastic covering the engine so don't worry. Rip off the plastic and enjoy, but you might want to dress it up a bit, because a 1960s Alfa-Romeo twin cam it is not. Personally I like the cover, but I have the Mopar Hemi orange cover to brighten things up a bit.
