Hi all,

I have a 2008 300c that I bought second hand and it only came with one key. I've just taken it for its first service at Albion Chrysler in Brisbane and wanted to get a second key for it at the same time.

The guy has quoted me around 700 bucks. I figured it was going to be dear from the look of it, but that seems like a dealership inflation to me.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the keys anywhere else? I read that you can get them off ebay and have them cut or whatever the terminology is, but a lot of people said that these would be US keys and they would work with different frequencies to the AUS ones.

Try the link in that thread. I know they're talking about Gen 2 remotes but the place also has Gen 1 keys.... about $8. lol. Of course you have to get it cut and programmed at a dealer but in that thread you'll see they were successful with a Gen 2 key. (fob). Hope this helps.

oh wait, that's only the case. The ones with the transmitter are a lot dearer than that, but still, lots cheaper than the $700 you got quoted.

is it the fobik key you need? as i think the spec is the same as the UK, dont get a used key as they cant be reprogrammed. Maybe worth keeping an eye on ebay, as there around £50 then take to the dealer to be programmed?

but if it the older key, should be even cheaper
