correct me if i'm wrong but isn't 5w50 not right for the SRT? should be 0w30 or something like that isn't it???

i know the 5.7s use 5w20 which is what i got from york motors when i took my car in for service. the oil price was listed at $30. lol, it was funny to look at.

had experiences with SVM, they're not bad.

I use the Mobil One 0w40 in mine which is the recommended. $105 for the 5L if you buy it from Supercheap or Autopro but $85 from most Mobil servos.
Good pick up, I didn't notice he was in the SRT.

please let me know if this is true, as I will go back and ask for the right oil.....will there be any damage if they used the wrong oil??

Only 5.7 V8 which is a bit sensitive to different oil as it has MDS. No harm done with the 5w-50 oil in SRT8 as long as you don't drive the car to extreme, just have the oil changed as soon as you have time for peace of mind. I think 0w-40 oil has a lower temperature starting protection but we are talking about extreme freezing weather.

ok. just got my 6 month service (the first one) at SVM Chatswood. These guys are highly recommended, at least by myself.

Total cost $306.49 which included $16.50 insurance for loan vehicle. (new sebring)

Hi horlarn,

Is the SRT8 cheaper to service??? I use the same dealer too and each 6 month service is fixed at $425. My third cost me $100 more for wheel alignment and balancing. They even ask for aircon pollen filter change for another $100. I have done only 6k so far and tell them to delay till next time. Do you have to bargain or you know someone important there? Please tell me your secret.

$425 for schedule service on Hemi seems a bit too much. Air conditioning pollen filter should be around $80 and no more. It is one of the items depends on the condition of the filter. Haven't changed mine and I've done over 40,000 km. Better get a quote from other dealers, sometime dealers take advantage of customers not questioning the costs. Especially in a wealthy suburb like Chatswood.

no secret, i just went in and booked it. they also tried the $100 wheel alignment with me but i declined.

I only know them from the car purchase, I assumed this was the standard price?

Another one down for the 3.5 V6.

6000km $223.70
10000km $270.14
24000km $300.00
36000km $220.00
48000km $506.10 look out for this one
60000km $800.10 (included front pad change at around $490)
72000km $420.00 (included coolant change)
84000km $434.75

It would appear that the service costs are on the rise, there did not appear to be anything in the last one to justify the extra expense.

Hi All:

Can you share what scheduled services you have had done on your 300c and how much they cost?

I have enquired with a couple of different Chrysler Service places & got very different quotes.

Cheers
MM
30,000 km Service on CRD ran to $396

Oil 5w 30 accounted for $153 of the above and filter $022

The service was good at Albion Chrysler Jeep Brisbane .

Noted the parking brake had been adjusted also.

Just did the 96,000km service, it's a biggy so look out when you get there:

Another one down for the 3.5 V6.

6000km $223.70
10000km $270.14
24000km $300.00
36000km $220.00
48000km $506.10 look out for this one
60000km $800.10 (included front pad change at around $490)
72000km $420.00 (included coolant change)
84000km $434.75
96000km $1006.75 (the big one)

96,000 did include a plug change, engine trasmission and diff oil changes as well as the pollen and air filters so the parts were up there along with the labour. I guess I can live with a big one every 96,000 km or so.:)

I will be taking delivery of a brand new V6 model in the next few days so it will be interesting to see how the service costs compare.

Booked my SRT8 in for 1200 k service at the new Berwick service centre at Hallam. They quoted me $525 to change the oil and filter. So I told them to do all the free stuff and I'll do the oil change and filter myself.
I think they want ME to pay for their new showroom.

O K next day drove down to SuperCheap Autos, Oil $ 107 plus gst for 10 litres, Filter for SRT8 same Ford & Holden V8s, ranger rover, Hyundai and lots of other cars. $15 So total cost 7 litres @ $82 plus filter $97. Spent about 1 hour, filter very tight. no tools to suit filter, to change oil and filter. I'm not a mechanic, 63 years old, can't believe that the Dealers can charge $440 for less than an hours work also didn't even bother to top up the low radiator water level. But to there credit they are going to supply a new L H tailpipe and tip an the one that was supplied with the car is 40mm shorter that the R H side.

I had a 36000 service just before Christmas. It cost $367.00

"Targa", you are quite right to feel being rip off, but the dealer would tell you different. For a standard oil/filter change service, dealer charges 2.5 hours at $110/hr. There are 41 items for checking, inspecting, lubricating, resetting and testing on top of the oil/filter change. I got the list when I asked why it cost so much. Whether the dealer actually does all the 41 items is another story. Btw, SRT8 probably has one item less because it doesn't need to rotate the wheels.

My 36,000 km at NMG was $ 334.20 and the standard of service from Chris and the team was excellent. This included a new pad and rotor wear measure and tyre rotation.

Cheers

It's time for my 50,000 km service soon. $334.20 for 36,000 service including new pads??? For a SRT8??? You must have good connections with the dealer "Mr.Velvet".
You must learn to pay attention.

This included a new pad and rotor wear measure
does not say anything about new pads - if you've followed the history of this car you'd be aware that it has had excessive rear pad wear issues and thus both the rotors AND pads are measured for wear at services. Next time read carefully before chiming in with the sarcasm.
