What size tires are your running pappadoc? Even with 22's that 'nut' youre talking about should be fine. In regards to your gear change problem, I say drive around more (non agressive) and let you car adapt to the ride. When going from stock 18's (if you have a C that is) to 22's theres going to be a noticable change in the ride. Youll get used it after a while.....by the way, got any pics of your car?
Shift feels funny???
I just got my 22's on and it feels like there is a hesitation in the shift from 1st to 2nd. It's just a little surging feeling like it's not sure if it wants to shift or not. It didn't do that before. Any Thoughts? 
Also how much clearance do you have between that nut and your tire. It is real close!!! No rubbing but when I saw it I was a little nervous!!!
