I really like the design of the strut grille. I like the bigger chrome around the edges and the mesh being closer together. $3500 bucks is way too much though. Lets just hope E&G redesign's their mesh grilles and makes one similar to the strut one for about $3000 less. I'd definately be buying it.
The Strut piece is manufactured in England. It is about 3 times heavier than my E&G. It is definitely a superior product, but I'm not sure that validates the difference in price.
I think someone in England is buying a bigger palace.
Well, the first time I saw the 300c I told all my friends that I will get it, which I got in in about 4 months of waiting. About 3 weeks from now I'll be lowering it. Now I just have to wait for my tax return to get that Strut grill. Does any one know the price for just the grill and lower gill inserts?
We are a dealer for the STRUT products and I wouldl ike to dispell a few myths. The products ARE NOT produced in England. However some of the sales staff are from across the pond and add a touch of class to the organization. They are made here in the good ol USA in Sunny California. They ARE expensive and there is a reason. The product is made of 316L Stainless Steel that is triple chrome plated and hand assembled being signed by the artisans. It is far superior to any other product offered for the 300C and is priced accordingly. The idea behind it is to add an elegant product to a elegant car. Why spend 3-5K on a superior set of wheels then put an inferior grill on the car that will most likely be the center piece. The STUT package is a touch of class on a classy car. The price for the Detroit is $3400 and includes the Primary Grill and the Lower vents. For and additional $1200 you can also have the side vents for the fenders. These are a permanent mount but are extreme in style and accent. I would be more than happy to answer any questions that you have regarding these packages and will be posting pictures of our own C install that will be completed next week. I hope that I have helped clear the air about the product.
Thanks to all of you that participate on this board it is truly a benefit to the C community.
Rough guess??? 10lbs-15lbs, but I can wiegh it tomorrow if you like. We are having an ice storm here today so all events have been cancelled. You can feel the wieght though cpmpared to the other grills.
Sorry about the miss info on the Strut. The guys @ CES said they were from England and I assumed (my fault) that meant so were the grilles.
As Tim said, the Strut is far superior to my E&G but I don't have it my budget yet.
We are beginning our full audio and custom fiberglass install next week. If I can, I will have a Strut on by Spring Break Nationals.
No problem Wes, I just wanted to let everyone know the basis behind the product. It is no doubt a hefty price tag, but well worth it. By the way, we love the lambo doors.
Thanks, Tim...we are about to attempt rear suicides the right way. We also are suiciding the hood and some more cool stuff.
This is the kind of business we are in so we have to come to the table with some innovative stuff.
i saw a t-rex at the la auto show right next to an e&g.... the t-rex was about a hundred more, but the quality of the chrome and workmanship (and the nicer border) seemed to be well worth the higher price..... i saw the white and gold monstrosity at the chrysler booth and think that benz look alike grill that they fabed out of the stock grill (removed all but the center vertical bars) looks really good. i think i might try that with mine.
