I have to decide whether to order my 300C with or without a sunroof. Living in Canada means snow and cold weather for at least 6 months a year. I wonder how much use I would get out of it. Also concerned about security---can a bad guy just break the glass and enter? Some people on the chatline say they are rattle prone and leak. Is it so? Does it reduce headroom? Does it increase resale value or hurt it? In hot weather is it just easier and cooler to keep it closed and run the A/C? If you have one would you buy it next time?

First of all Dragon, you live in Canada and the sunroofs are standard feature, so you are out of luck. I never heard of anyone breaking in a sunroof to steal the car and I'm a retired police officer. Why not just break a window!!! I love my sunroof on the days when it is warm and I am not in a hurry. I had it open to-day as it was warm in Calgary. This is my third DC product with the roof and I have never had a problem with leaking or rattles, but that is why I have a warranty. I would buy a sunroof anytime. If you don't want a sunroof then get the plain 300, limited, or touring and then you will have a choice, but if you want the hemi well-------------

Actually Mikeyjohn DC has very quietly deleted the sunroof as a standard part of the package! It is now a standalone option for $1200. I cannot win. I wait for AWD to become available and when it comes they delete the sunroof. A price gouge by any other name.
BTW is the California wood trim for $495 Canadian worthwhile or is the tortise shell better?

I love the sun roof and waited probably longer than necessary for the car to be built with it. It was worth it. I dont see all the benefit to the wood trim though. The tortise shell is only available in the HEMI. IMHO why would you want to get the option that is available in the other models and forego the trim that is only available in one place? I personaly liked the tortise shell trim better, just my opinion. That said, if you are wanting to put aftermarket dash trim on the car I think you need to get the wood trim. The options available to do a dash kit with tortise shell are not available yet, and I dont know how good they will look anyway. The wood kits however look fantastic from the pictures posted here. One thing to not pass up, although I did, is the Sirrius radio. The only regret I have is not getting that option for $195. Now through the dealer for about $500 I can get it but its not worth that much to me.

dragon: I'm not a fan of the wood but that's personal preference.

As for the sunroof; I like it, no rattles, but you do lose an inch or two of headroom. The AC is easier and quieter imho. I hadn't ordered it with one, but my dealer found a similar 300C at one of their other dealerships after I'd been in BX for two months.

I'd probably skip it if I were you.

Dragon, I did not know that DC Canada had taken away the sunroof. I will go back to DC site and build one again and see what else has changed. It looks like the real wood has also increased by leaps and bounds. I like my real wood and with the added woodtrim it looks super, but I would not have paid $495.00 for it. It really is not worth it.

For what its worth, I wish I could give you mine.

I HATE the thing and it generally makes my car feel like a cheap car. I have had it checked out on 3 different visits. This next time I will be calling DC to resolve the issue.

It seems as if the sunroof issues are not overly common however.

I like the sunroof for the light and the feeling of openness. I rarely open it as I like the quiet, no wind noise for me. It's also good to vent heat in the summer months.

Rogue, I finally got mine silent by wiping the seal down with Zaino tire gloss. It's only been a few days, but not a peep out of it. What an amazing difference.

I have to add, if it is a cheap or bad sun/moon roof, something that has had alot of problems with other owners, and has got complaints from people, then maybe you should look at aftermarket options for a moon or sun roof. I one thing i do not want when i buy a new car is cheap or bad parts. I hate extra noise...

I like having a sunroof to let hot air out in the summer. I am a smoker so I use the sunroof to vent the smoke. The wind noise from this sunroof is more than my previous vehicle. Is it worth it? The car seems classier with it to me but I could live without it. I ordered a C without the sunroof but after 13 weeks in BX I got tired of waiting and bought one off the lot that had it.

I love my sunroof, and the way it is hidden when open entirely. I don't experience the rattle or any problems thus far. :)

I opted to save nearly 10 C notes, I have a sr on the X5 and I never use it, on other cars the occasional use of the vent was nice but hardly worth it to me, if you like a roof, then it is worth it's weight in gold, obviously a personal choice. Many roofs and convertible tops are by ASC who does many domestic and import cars, I am not sure who does it for DC but s/r problems are rare these days. I love the tortise shell, I got a satin nickle dash kit which obviates the concern about the wood not matching the shell. The satin nickle looks great IMHO.
