is there a way to activate the option "Sound Horn with Remote Key Lock" without using the EVIC menu entry?
maybe some weird key/button combination?

the manual mentions a "Sound horn with lock" menu in the personal settings but I dont have this menu entry.. only "flash lights with lock" is there.. and no word about activating it without the EVIC :(

d'oh ??

btw: I only have the german manual here, maybe the US manual contains some more information about alternative steps to activate this..

thanks!

cheers, flexion

Yeah, the U.S. sold cars do have the capability of turning "Sound Horn On Lock" feature on/off without using the EVIC system. Follow the following steps:

1) Press the LOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds.
2) While the LOCK button is pressed (after 4 seconds), press the PANIC button. Release both buttons.

Shazam! You are done. To reverse, simply repeat the steps.

thanks frank29, thats nice but there's a small problem: I dont have a panic button! :) PAAANIC!! lol..

any idea how to enable it without panic button? I dont know if there are US models (or magnums aswell) without this button.

the german manual explains how to change "flash lights on lock" without evic but not the horn

I never knew this, I used the evic to disable the sound horn feature since I have twin Italian air horns it does not blip the compressor enough to blow so no point in activating the compressor and it would be too loud anyway. Frank, where did you get that info?

Autobarn online, about $24 Fiamm made in Italy, not China. easy installation using the stock location for the horns and that mounting hole at the front part of the right fender in the engine bay for the air compressor . I have pics on my desktop if interested. If so, lets start a new thread rather than jack this one.

Bummer  , I can't help you; good luck. If it's not in your owner's manual, perhaps it is in a German issue of the service manual....surely there's a way to deactivate it.....that was one of the first things I did.

I just confirmed it does work on mine. I don't understand some of the differences for cars destined for different markets....somethings are easy to fathom, things like this appear to lack rational

I reconfirmed that it doesn't work but I found the directions to do this in the manual plus my car has the EVIC system and in the personal settings menu I don't have the menu to activate the horn when you lock the car as it stated in the manual so first thing I do when I take my car for service is to let them get this done first.

but if you say it doesnt work I will not try to modify my keys.. so I guess I will also ask the dealer to do this next time.

Hey the panic button works fine but the horn on lock which is not working, It is there in the manual so it should work thats why I am going to the dealer, I might have not done the seqence right or something I donno,I'm going to them tommorow to check it out.
