hello all this is what the screen looks like on my 08 touring. I believe this happened after my car battery died however i have been dealing with the problem so long i forget. basically the radio, cd, nav all still work however the touch screen is not accesable due to the error message so i cant see or use the screen nor use the nav or watch a dvd. i have hit ok and let it try to repair it self however after updating the files and completing it just goes back to the same error. Any body else experienced this or know any fixes?? the dealership says i need a new unit over$1000 gtfoh!!! please any help would be appreciated thanks!!

good morning

no stay cool you dont need a new unit!

You must only reset the unit.

1. after you have the ignition on you must go fast in the E-Menu..........

You can access the Engineering Menu of the MyGIG by pressing the 3 Hard Keys: SEEK UP - SEEK DOWN - MENU all at the same time.

Image

now you scroll to the last page

Image

press the button restore to factory defaults and confirm.

after the unit have make a restarts in the screen you have the same Message for repair the database now you confirm all.............so you losse all your music but this are all.

when the mygig now works you must make software updates i can see from your pic you have a very old version!

post your application version, to see what software application is installed on your MyGIG you go on:

Menu - System Setup - System Information

feedback!

Very helpful, i just did the reset.
I wasn't able to do it before the message pop-up, so I did accept to auto recover and entered to the e menu during the recovery

same problem..

Hey there I'm hoping that you'll still see this message, Sox..

So I just started having this same problem with MyGIG in my 2010 Wrangler.. Mine is stuck in an infinite loop which will not allow me to get the factory defaults reset before the "Music Database Must be Repaired" window pops.. I can't delete music files, can't do anything without that window popping up first. I can reach the engineers menu, and select the reset, but it won't complete before the other window pops. Any ideas? I'm freaking out.. THANKS.

Yeah so I'm navigating as fast as it will let me through those menus, and I can get to the "Restoring Defaults..." window, but it will not complete the reset before the "Music Database" window comes up.. I don't see it being possible to move any faster through the menus..

I get that damn "Drive safe and follow traffic laws" window that pops up on bootup that I have to click "Accept" on, which eats up a few seconds.. is it possible to get rid of that? I'm really frustrated that a $1000 radio can be so screwed up so easily.

**UPDATE**

So after turning off the ignition and taking a break to write this post, I go back to try again and it's working fine after booting up. Seems like that last effort actually worked, even though it didn't seem to at the time.. so I updated the Software to 2.402 and the Gracenotes to 3373. Everything seems to be ok now. Thanks SO MUCH for your help, Sox. I sure do appreciate it. Cheers man.

THIS WORKED! TYSM! okay the only difference for me is that the Exact second I turned the car on the message popped up. if this is happening for you, what you need to do is go ahead and hit OK on the message and when it starts to load try repairing the database then you hold down seek up seek down and menu. It should give you a message saying do you accept any risk, and hit yes. This should bring you to the menu, where you can factory reset. Thank you so much for your help!
