Has anyone changed out the thermostat on the SRT8? The cars seem to run hot and a change to 180 thermostat would keep the engines cooler, giving slightly better power. The automakers like to put higher temp. themostats in to get lower emmissions as the engine is hotter. Just wondering opinions on this.

I have a cooler tstat in my car and I'm planning on installing the original back in for now. I'm having Thermostat Rational errors in the PCM. P0128

the logic states that it expect to see a temp change of a given value over a fixed peirod of time for a given condition.

According to info in the Dodge Truck forums, the 180 degree thermos will set this code, PO128, in cooler climates. Here in Texas, during the summer, we can get away with the 180. I am guessing that a 195 degree thermo is at least 10 degrees cooler than the stock 6.1L Hemi thermo and I bet it works without and issues right now.

Hopefully, somebody will give us some ability to set the fan on temps to correspond with cooler thermos and look at the cool engine fuel tables. The Hemi Truck guys are also reporting a loss of gas milage with 180 thermos.
