dealer installed is different, nothing displays on nav, it is not activated on mirror. I put my switch in ashtray. unit but works fine. its the same box they put on all chrysler models. pictures in old thread.

I just spent 5 minutes looking at the service manual......

8W-55-3 and 8W55-4 show the wiring diagrams for the hands free. It looks as if the U-Connect consists of the mirror, and a hands free-module. The ONLY external connections that I see are for the CAN (easy to tap into), and 3 audio wires that connect to the radio. All you would need to connect the wires to the radio are the connecting pins, which should not be a big deal.

Pages 8W-80-68 and 8W-80-76 show the actual pinouts for the wiring harnesses.

http://dto.vftis.com/mopar/platform_select.asp (thanks fnkychkn at lxforums) shows that the wiring harness connectors are available for both the mirror and the module. Select 2005 LX for the vehicle.
The hands-free connector is showing P/N 05102402AA. The connector for the hands free module is P/N 05083221AA.

From there, it should be a matter of wiring everything up, and getting power to the modules. Maybe you have to enable the U-Connect on the CAN.... a simple procedure with StarScan IF it is even necessary.

I'm currently working on adding the auto A/C to my SRT8, which currently has the manual controls. My problem is that none of the connector kits are available for the numerous plugs that I need. Not a big deal, but just a little more work on my end. I'm just waiting on the arrival of the sun sensor before the project starts.

The auto A/C in the MSRT8 is included in SRT option group I, which my car does not have. The RT that I had before had the auto A/C..... and it is a nice feature (which SHOULD be included in the SRT8), that I want to add.

Ok, back onto the Uconnect...what's the verdict? Did the dealer make this work?

I just helped set up my co-workers Uconnect (factory) in a New JeepGC Hemi, it's slick.

I'd add it, but only if I can get the factory equipment....maybe there's an LX somewhere out there resting in peace that's has a Uconnect I can purchase..

Well i picked up my car yesterday and the person i was dealing with forgot to get me a price and told me he would call me.
I dont care if he calls me or not because i want to wait til next week when my service advisor is there and i wanna ask him and get more info on this.

I had to check out the uconnect because I was choosing between cars that had one from the factory and others that had stuff I wanted but didn't have the Uconnect.

The add-on doesn't use the mirror. It's a little module that gets attached inside the car and has it's own speakers, the system doesn't mute the car's stereo when a call comes in, and it doesn't have the mic in the mirror, the little unit (looks to be about 2" x 3") has that in it too. From what I could tell it's not quite as cool as the factory one (which I ended up getting and love).

At least that's what I came up with.

You are wrong on the muting of the radio. It mutes on incoming and outgoing calls.
