I've searched for any thread talking about the SRT8 having either an oil or trany cooler from the factory... I'm presuming there is a trany cooler... but I've not found out about the oil. If one's not included, I'm considering a purchase of one... but I've not had much experience with the options for this product. Enough of you have received your '05's by now that this, I'm sure is common knowledge for you.

Sorry if this was covered in some previous thread... any ideas?

I am curious about the answer to this also. I would not assume it has the external trans oil cooler. I have read somewhere that the police package on the Dodge Magnum does/will have an external trans, engine, and power steering oil coolers; allowing for possible mods to the SRT-8 if it doesn't already come with such coolers. I have an Impala SS and like the 9C1 police package it came with external trans oil cooler, but only an internal engine oil cooler (the 9C1s had external) and no power steering oil cooler (9C1 had one). Someone with better knowledge of the SRT-8 should be able to comment.

Why would all these coolers be nedded unless towing, mountains, racing etc. At least for my C I can't imagine needing extra coolers. I know some Jaguars have power steering coolers which is very odd, thier pumps don't last any longer than non cooled pumps.

Really just added cooling for spirited driving. Many debate the usefullness, but I think that the general consensus is that the trans oil cooler does add value by allowing the trans fluid to run cooler (I have them in all of my cars, either factory or aftermarket and never had a tranny issues even with over 200K miles on my 87 Buick and over 100K on my 96 Impala) - the engine oil cooler when already using synthetic is likely less useful (although the new Corvettes with the perf package come with all three coolers). Many cars have a power steering cooler (even our Honda Odyssey), not sure exactly why - could be that no one ever changes their power steering fluid and running it cooler extends its life.

Anytime you can reduce heat you will increase longevity. With all the speculation that the trans in the SRT8 may only barely be up to the challenge, I'd go for any edge I could find if I were gonna get an SRT8.
