My car has a vibration in it between 52 to 58mph when driving on a level road. I was suppose to drop it off on Tuesday but the dealer called and said that there was a TSB that just came out. They have to replace three peaces of the exhaust system which they have to order.I hope that this will fix the problem I already had the tranns control Modula replaced
Thanks badss, for the Star search. I have a really co-operative service manager. This is the precise information I have been looking for.badss said:Based on what I said above, there is definetly a "new" style exhaust set-up(i.e. how it attaches the pipes. The only problems is proving it to your dealer. Without a TSB, the dealer only has what you say as a basis to go by. Try taking your car into the service department and asking them to contact STAR center about your vibration. Actually, I just performed a STAR online search, there are updated pipes and spring nuts available.
Search results:
a new flex joint has been released to break up the mode. In order to fix the car you will need 2 pipes and 2 spring/nut assemblies (Mopar call out either a nut or spring, depending on the system. It's the same) The part numbers are 04581868AH (qty - 1), 04581869AG (qty - 1), and 04578363AA (Qty - 2).
They claim the vibration is present between 1500 and 2000 RPM.
Unfourtunately, there are only 12 muffler assemblies available at this time in the US, only 9 resonator assemblies available, and no spring/nut assemblies.
Just FYI
Agreed. Seems like 2 different problems - and way too many different threads. The other it appears is exhaust related and is an annoying vibe at 55-58mph only, in 5th gear (goes away in 4th), that is felt in the seat and body of the car and seen as a blur in the rv mirror in an otherwise perfectly shifting car. Passengers may not even be aware of this vibe, is feels like riding on some mild cobblestone pavement.
Thanks, Moddog. That would help. Just running this resonance issue through my service guys. They are at the "scratching of heads" juncture.moddog said:The key word is not vibration its RESONANCE and there is a bulletin out for an Exhaust System Revision.
When I get to computer with a scanner I will scan my paper with the service for the exhaust.
