TSB for the 55-58 vibration

I was over at the edmunds forum and read this. I'll have to contact my dealer next week and see if they heard of it.

My car has a vibration in it between 52 to 58mph when driving on a level road. I was suppose to drop it off on Tuesday but the dealer called and said that there was a TSB that just came out. They have to replace three peaces of the exhaust system which they have to order.I hope that this will fix the problem I already had the tranns control Modula replaced

C-man was only conveying what he read on the Edmunds forum. Here is the thread.

Someone should probably post the question on this thread.
I am not a member and don't want to register, so I can't ask.
:D Right you are Joey. Sorry C-Man, didn't mean to put you on the spot. I was just so excited at the prospect of getting rid of the only REALLY annoying flaw in my car that I jumped before carefully re-reading your original post.
I'm registered, I'll Ask

I'm registered over there I'll ask for the TSB number...of course Edmunds will not allow me to login right now, getting errors. As soon as that is resolved I'll ask.
Had my car at the dealer for oil change and other things today. Mentioned the vibration. The response ended up being that they could not find any tsb's. They called DC and the answer they recieved was that the vibe is a result of the MDS.

Now, this doesn't mean that the response is the correct one, probably some dummy just taking a guess.

The saga continues.
I also tried to log onto Edmunds to ask for the TSB # and got an error also. I wil try again later.

No prob - Let's just hope this person on edmunds isn't just blowing smoke.
I guess a little hope is better than no hope at all.

Edmunds is useless for the TSB listings. They only have a handful of what's out there.
I was finally able to post at edmunds, hopefully the person who posted will have the TSB inforamtion.

Someone on Edminds forum quoted that there is a TSB for the vibration. I just wanted to ask the person the number. Looks like jcsganga34 did already, thanks jcsganga34.
Here is the list from NHTSA:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/results.cfm

and there is one for the tranny. I guess I'll call to find out what it is. This doesn't mean it is the "vibration" fix....just a tranny TSB.

BTK

PS....the NHSTB is the place to check for recalls and TSB listings.
The tranny TSB is for the leaking or wicking around bad O-ring seals.

Nothing to do with a vibration.

Just installed a Borla cat back exhaust system (4 muffler with 3 1/2" tips) and the vibration at 58 mph is gone! I think the sound is perfect for this car. It is quiet at crusing speed but when you hit it you know whats under the hood! Around 40 - 45 mph I can faintly hear it going to 4 cylinder mode, just a slight change in pitch, not bad at all.
I will have to make some adjustments because at idle and around 70 mph the pipes must be making contact with the body because I can hear and feal the vibration.
I am very happy with this mod, it is lighter, looks better, sounds better, it's faster and gets better gas mileage! Oh yeah and the vibration is gone.
Foamhaven,

Glad to hear that. I have the vibe and the Borla's sitting in the garage for a week. I guess this will motivate to get off my you know what and find a shop to install them.

Hopefully godd bye vibe.
Foamaven, You said the vibration was gone and then you said you could hear and feel a vibration.

The vibration that you hear and feel now is what I had after i had Borlas installed. I could not get rid of that vibration until I put the rear (stock)resonators back on the car. I and two muffler shops that tried, and had no luck.

Be sure to let us know when you get the vibration fixed.

Thanks, Dixie

I got up early this morning to bring it to a friend of mine's shop to put it up on the lift and check out the vibration. On the drive there I never heard the vibration again. We both took it out for a ride and could not make it happen! Something may have shifted and stopped hitting the frame. He suggested to watch it for a week and if it happens again bring it back for adjustments. Other then that, the system is perfect, very quiet under low throddle conditions at all speeds, but has a deep tone at wot. I am very happy with it and waiting for my Volent CAI to come in.
This is all very interesting, I was thinking of getting the Borla but not for this reason. I don't think I will have the dealer check the stock system, I may just pony op the $10.00 and have my muffler guy check it.

If you do, I don't think you'll be sorry, this system won't drive you nuts volume wise.
T Byrne Motorsports, had the best price by far, in a group purchase.
Guys

Just trying to put it all together. We were hoping to get a lead on a exhaust system TSB from another forum for the vibe problem but that has not materialized as of yet and we are not sure if that guy was right. If you put on this after market exhaust system it works and sounds great and seems to fix the 58 MPH vibe problem. But you can get another vibe problem. And to fix that you might have to put back on some stuff from the original exhaust system. Excellent info but I am not sure if I have the patience for all that right now. A better growl under throttle is nice though. Please keep us posted.

Please don't get me wrong the vibration that I got was from body contact with the exhaust system. It must have shifted and there is no vibration at all now! I drove it all day long under all speeds and conditions, it is gone.
