Hey everyone,

I'm SilverHemi300C's personal mechanic....err...I mean his son. I want to hardwire his V1 radar locator into the 300, all it needs is a power wire (ignition on) and a little bit of real estate inside the overhead console.

My problem is that I cannot remove the console. I took out the clear lenses and looked inside, I didn't see any screws to remove. Ditto inside the sunglass holder. The unit is certainly clipped to the roof somewhere in there, but I can't see it! It has a moonroof too, btw.

Any advice? When I get it in I'll post pics. Happy New Year!

We wired ours into the fuse panel under the dash, ran the wire along the windshield pillar and under the moulding at the top of the windshield. We mounted the remote in front of the bottom of the Tachometer. It works great. Mounted the Valentine one to the right of the rear view mirror.

best radar detector on the market in our opinion.

I stole errr... I mean tapped the mirror power since it was right there. Just be sure to test the power taps while the car is in reverse too. There is a line that shuts off while the car is in reverse, to make sure the mirror is not in the "auto save your eyes from the person that has their highbeams on behind you" mode.

However, a line to the fuse box would be the best way.

Hmm, I'll probably tap a wire on the mirror, done that before on my Mark VIII...I was hoping to do it inside the console (moonroof wire is easy and is the right source of power) but I can get a plain black phone cord and skip the little kit you get with the V1.

Pro-five-oh, let me know how it comes out. I want my radar detector to be integrated into the car too. Of course, I don't have the 300 yet. My friend had it done on his Z06 and he loves it.

How many wires in the look back mirror, what color are they and which one should we tape to get power?

They all look black from there, so its a matter of getting a voltmeter and finding the one you need. (ignition power)

I would still prefer to run power from the moonroof switch like I've done before...sooner or later I'll figure out how that friggin console comes out.

How-to remove the Overhead Console

OVERHEAD CONSOLE REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Pull downward on the sides of the overhead console
housing firmly and evenly to disengage the snap clips from the overhead console bracket.
3. Lower the overhead console from the headliner far enough to access the wire harness connectors.
4. Disconnect the roof wire harness connectors from the overhead console wire harness connector.
5. Remove the overhead console from the headliner.

I removed my Escort SR-1 from my 300M and will most likely be putting it in my 300C..

With it not there I find myself not speeding as much, but I do miss the heads up it gives you. Besides, it won't cost me anything to use it..

No prob. It'll be the moonroof wiring in my case...but I'm obviously gonna find the right wire with my voltmeter before I start splicing.

V1 installation

Just wired my V1 to the cigarette lighter wires, both pos & neg. Easy to get the console off, and run wires under steering wheel, up left window cover, across top of windshield, and mount V1 to left of mirror. Easier to reach mute button that way.
