so im driving on the highway hitting the gas with a very nice looking 300C rims and all we were having some fun.. then all of a sudden my engine shuts down seat goes back and all lights come up on the dash.. it says service park assist in the warning menu
anyway i found out after 5 min of being on the highway it was a fuse located in the trunk and your park assist is linked up to the ignition car would not start when this happened and wont start unless you replace he fuse... sucks thank god i was able to pull over to a resonably safe spot... and by the way buy some fuses because we dont have any extras i had to use the power mirror fuse to get my car off the highway.. i now have extra fuses in the glove box!! anyone know why this would happen WHY WOULD THE FUSE BLOW! and not to mention this did happen 2x everything is fine now car runs normal no power loss or starting issues could it be i had 2 bad fuses?

Not to mention this seems like safety hazard!! I don't understand why DCX would have the computer looking at park assist when the computer can easily recognize you are at highway speed(bascially, there should be a lockout to this for speeds above say 5 or 10mph). I am going to take a look at that fuse panel and purchase the correct fuses.

Thank you for the heads up!!

I believe park asssist should not affect operation of a vehicle at all !!!
Warning is more than enough. Stalling an engine is a safety hazard at any speed. It is more than sufficient reason for a recall.

I would think this is extremely unlikely to be two bad fuses. Sounds more like an intermittent short. I would definitely have it checked out by the dealer.

Hopefully, this is an isolated case.

Yeah, something sounds strange....I don't even think the assist is programmed to operate unless you are in neutral or reverse. Really wierd.

I had my service park assist warning come on when there was snow on the sensors. The car was in Drive at the time, but it didn't affect vehicle operation.
Come to think of it, that exact thing happened to me once.

I think my problem was caused by the car being covered with ice; still, my little EVIC message was received when the car was in DRIVE: that is the only similarity between my "incident" and SILVER STEEL SRT8's "incident". The sum total of my one time "incident" may be reviewed in following thread: http://www.300cforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4911&highlight=park

The 2005 system is supposed to be disabled in drive.

update

so i get the call my car is ready and when i go and talk to the tech he stated: they were not actually able to find a short or what has been going wrong all wiring was checked and car seems to be operating normal... everything seems fine until im driving down the street i live and same situation.. car was again towed to the dealer and now the situation when tested so far is there is a short now they have to find it.. thats like finding a needle in the ocean... this time i will not accept the car back unless they find something wrong because this is a dangerous situation.. anyone have any pictures of the wiring to the srt8 just for my own satisfaction i would like to see where that wire is spliced and to what other wires it is spliced too!! thanks guys
p.s. the tech was an awesome guy and apologized a million times and also said this was the best thing that could happen now there it is noticable something is wrong before i just popped a fuse in after checking wireing and it was functioning fine.. hopefully fixed by friday

What was the cause of the problem? :reporter:

Same thing happened to me except no bad fuse. A/C also stopped working at the same time. This was after about an hour of driving time. Turned car off and let sit for an hour or so and all was fine. Has happened three times but can never get it to dealer with problem and they can't duplicate.

almost forgot: the light on the hazard light switch came on at the same time.

sorry was away for a while

update
The wiring that leads to the ignition feed was cut by rubing against the plastic that covers the wires and was shorting in and out. took about a week they took apart all the wiring and found the problem was in the front engine compartment right where the fuse box is..

I know this thread is old but this same thing just happened to me. 7500 miles on the car, no electrical mods. Driving on the freeway at a lawful speed and the dash board goes nuts. All the idiot lights come on, bells dinging, both tach and speedo pins drop to zero, then back to normal then back to zero and the EVIC errors says Service Park Assist. Car DID NOT shut down. In fact I could continue to drive it had I been able to concentrate with all that stuff going on on the dash board. Finally I got the bright idea to shift from D into autostick. Bad idea. Now the tanny won't shift out of first. It's like the thing has gone mad.

Get it to the dealer and get it looked at. Mention the problem that SILVER STEEL SRT8 had to and what the cause was. Post again and let us know what you find out.

Well the dealership called toady and said it was the FCM (front control module). Can't find much about it here becuase I'm not well versed in the idosyncracies of the search function. Should be fixed tomorrow.
