Build numbers: Theoretically, about 225 were made. However, I'm guessing the real total for 2005 SRT-8's was actually much lower. We've only seen about a dozen 05 owners register here, and given the type of car, and the usage of the internet, you'd think more than 5% of SRT-8 owners would have been here by now.
I've asked official channels (people who know the real number) and was told that the information was currently deemed confidential.
The Brampton assembly people only built them for about 20 days, and they didn't seem to report 10 a day.
There's no way to tell from VIN's. The VIN's were not in sequential order. I'd give you my educated guess on total production, but then someone, someday will repeat my guess as gospel, thus starting more internet rumours about production number. Maybe in 6 months DCX will tell us.

It just so happens I've been working on documenting the 2005 SRT build numbers and related information. JMatt is correct in stating that the information is hard to come by, but where there is a will there is a way. With a little "inside" help as well as some other sources and message boards etc., I have come up with the following information to date:
2005 300C SRT-8 production information
Estimated total units built - USA: 225 (+44 for DC exec's?)
Estimated total units built - Canada: 35
Build dates I have confirmed: February 15th 2005 through March 21st, 2005
Total units I have confirmed (as of May 10, 2005): 175 USA + 35 Canada = 210
Color breakdown: 118 Black (56%) / 92 Silver (44%)
VIN # of first model built: 2C3AA73WX5H627497
(Born Feb. 15th, Hour 00. Registered to Georgia buyer 4/11/05)
First units placed into service:
2C3JA73W05H667622 (March 10, 2005, USA)
2C3AA73W45H650788 (March 10, 2005, Canada)
Total unsold units (as of May 10, 2005): 17
State/Province with most registered:
1. California (35)

The first 300C SRT-8 came off the line at hour 00, the Charger at hour 07. The Charger was the third one built, first two Feb 10th and 3rd one on the 15th.Rambit said:I have always wondered who got the first one that came off the line with the 06 Charger.

How many miles are on it? I ran into some guy a couple of weeks ago who wanted to look at my car. Said he was a trucker that picked up the SRT8's from Brampton. He told me he and other drivers used to "race" them just before loading them up. Pissed me off when I heard that one.srt42 said:I just called DCX and they confirmed that the car shipped on 3/22 and was delivered to my dealer on 4/11. Hopefully, the factory was going through it with a fine-tooth-comb to make sure everything was built to specs.
