Hey gang

I'm starting to get attached to my 300c now that I have some cool mods (audio, chip, exhaust, CAI) and it isn't very practical to think I'd get all I deserve on a trade on a SRT-8 so the question is a good one (compared to trading/selling outright and starting over with a SRT)

What would it take to take a stock 300c and mod it enough to beat the SRT?

And I'm not looking for a general answer of " Oh, about $15,000". I'd like a list if possible.

This should be a good thought provoker... lol..

May not be worth it - just to beat it

You should read THIS just to understand what the SRT8 has in upgrades over the 300c

Package Deal

Just figure, yours 300C/mine CSRT8

Yours / Mine
HP 345+ 425+
Thousands of $ to come close

Handling Comfort / Acceptable Comfort+ Great Handling
Hundreds to a couple thousand depending on Level of quality of components

Braking Ok at best/ Awesome w/dust
Several Thousand for Upgrades frt & Back not to mention that conventional 300c wheels won't fit over the SRT8 4pot Caliper unless designed with enough inset to clear, cost of brakes and wheels - lets say almost 1/3 of your car.

you're going to be better off on the long run by trading for an actual SRT8

it'll end up being cheaper and you get to keep your warranty

Your best bet would be a S/C kit by GSM. Your looking at about 6K for the hardware and about 1.5K for labor. This will give you outstanding straight line performance. If you want more than straight line performance, its better you go with a SRT8. You could also go with a NOS system for under $2000 installed.

You could go with the GSM supercharger with the big boost kit. That's what I ended up doing when faced with the same choice. My car is at GSM right now having it installed. When completed I will have around 500 rwhp compare that with 398 rwhp for a stock SRT8.

Do you NEED to go as fast?

How about just get some cool 22" forged staggered wheels, KW drop, and perhaps the SRT8 body kit?

It will look stunning and look VERY CLOSE to an SRT8 w/o the poor gas mileage, and it should handle great w/those shocks!

E.g.:

It'll handle as good w/those KWs (and perhaps a Hotchkiss sway bar swap) and with some headers, you should be able to get into the very low 14s, high 13s.

to answer correctly, you'd have to define 'beat the SRT'...a supercharger and NOS won't help you beat the SRT around a track, for example..

But can you stop it when you need to?

in addition to the fact that you just cut the lifespan of your motor roughly in half............with no warranty

to each his own of course (for example, I'm waiting for the TT option for the SRT8), but throwing a blower on a 340hp(flywheel) car to make 500rwhp just sounds like an explosion (DETONATION) waiting to happen. Eventually something's gotta give........and you'll quickly find out what the weakest link in the chain is

buy the SRT8.....you won't be dissappointed

The REAL Question is...

Since the ONLY reason I went sith the 5.7 is that the 6.1 isn't available with AWD, when will Chrysler (if ever) come out with an AWD SRT-8? I would trade my NEW AWD 5.7 (900 miles new) in a second for that option!

not too many

fact is, with only 3184 made so far in US, not too many people are ever gonna see one. If you do, you better buy it quick, because the word is out... SRT8 is a great deal of car for the money!

When you mod anything it is always difficult to approach factory reliability levels. You can literally add problems to your car. And you always spend more money! Plus, you degrade the value on the open market because no one will give you their $ for your modified auto.

Bottom line, no matter what, SRT8 is best, because it was DESIGNED that way!

Hey Zen,

I think you should change the thread title to (What mods needed 2 run with big dogs?) It seems like the SRT-8 owners are a little defensive to trying to mod up more Hp then 6.1's. We don't want to beat them, just join'em.
:smoker:

Option 1 :
Scott, we are anxiosly awaiting any company that can offer tuning for the Hemi as well. As soon as there is a good solution available we will begin testing on new Hemi platforms. Thanks

It does seem kinda offensive. We both have some nice azz cars. 5.7 and 6.1, both are no joke, I could have purchased the 6.1 but as a daily driver I figured my slow 5.7 would be fine. However, its does seem VERY few SRT owners have some problems with regular C owners trying to keep up. However, I guess some owners feel since the paid $10K more then I guess they should have that "chip" on thier shoulder. Humm....Oh well...
