Do most of you guys on here get your tint job done with the film cut around the 3rd brake light on your rear window? On my last 300 Touring, the shop I went to removed the back seat and the rear deck lid and they were able to tint the whole rear window instead of cutting around the 3rd brake light. It looks much better this way, but they charge a little more for the labor. I'm planning on doing the same tint job to my new 300C. I did 35% all around last time, I'll be doing 20% all around this time.

I noticed that the ceramic tint is a little more expensive. What are the benefits?

Ceramic

Ceramic will not interfere with the integrated antenna in your rear windshield. You should consider nothing but non-metallic (ie ceramic/dyed) window film.

3M Color Stable 25% Sides & 20% Rear. Legal limit in TX. $299. Got to go with 3M Color Stable or Ceramic if you want to save your radio signal, especially AM.

I've called quite a few places, both for ceramic tint and for Color Stable or Color Guard film, and I haven't received a quote under $350. One place, for $375 out the door came highly recommended by a friend. They remove all 4 windows from the doors and bake the tint on, so there's no curing process. They also offer a lifetime replacement guarantee - even if a window is broken and replaced, they'll tint the new window. This sounds pretty nice... until I read all these <$200 posts.

I paid $160 for all five windows at 35% with a premium grade tint. It has a lifetime replacement warranty too! I think some of you guys are getting ripped off big time. What I especially like about my tint is that it has a greenish shade to it. It really looks good on my Satin Jade car. Some tints are grayish in color, and some even have a bluish tint. Shop around and find what's best for you. The installer cut around the rear break light (CHMSL) and it came out perfect. I don't think I have ever seen a 300 tinted by taking out the back seat and light just to tint over the entire rear glass window. Seems like it would be a lot of work ! Good luck with your decision. I am so happy with the way mine turned out, I get compliments all the time. :wave:
