I just got the wiring harness for the trailer hitch. I was planning on installing this myself, well, there is a blue wire that is very long which it says to take that wire, run it up the left side of the car to where your left foot goes (behind the kick pannel) and just tuck it up in there and don't connect it to anything.

Well, I can save myself some time and not connect it to anything in the trunk, but does anyone know what in tarnation that is for? Future hook up for something... but what?

Typically the blue wire is for hooking up to a brake controller. I would guess that's what it is here as well. That way it would be there if you needed to install trailer brakes.

Yes, the wire is for a trailer brake controller. I highly doubt you will ever tow anything needing its own brakes. I would cut the wire off of the harness, or just zip tie it out of the way.
