Im not sure were to post it and not sure if this has been discussed in the past. I did a quick google search and could not find the answer. Is it possible for a mild bolt on 6.1 to keep up with a 6.4 stock. I know the rwhp is definitly in favor of the 6.4 no doubt. Has anyone raced the new 6.4's or seen a vid. I saw one vid of the 6.4 stock giving a new 5.0 a good run.

My guess is yes

I believe a bolt on 6.1 will do a fine job keeping up with the new 6.4. Launching the 6.4 is a real trick to say the least. The 6.1 is a lighter vehicle and usually running a wider tire while the 6.4L is still on 245s. With a little practice, I have managed 4.6 0-60 with a 12.8 113mph quarter according to the new EVIC. 4 out of 6 times however, the tires lightup at 2,000 rpm which is where a balance 6.1 would pull ahead.

The 6.4's torque comes in very strong after launch which makes it quite unpredictable. Can't wait for a tuner for my new 300 as I want to pull some timing on the low end to get the hookup without smoking the tires for the first 1/8 mile.

P.S. I have not yet found a 5.0 stang that wants to play...found a few BMWs (750,525,335i) and a "F" model Lexus and they all quickly disappeared in the mirrors.

I really like the new SRT 300 so hopefully one day ill be able to buy one. Im really liking the one i have and with a few bolt ons it isnt too bad. So hopefully ill get to run one down the road. If i lose it isnt a big deal its a better car either way.

There are a few videos up, it's a very close race. Drag times from both cars suggest it's too close to call too...well for people who know how to get good times out of their 6.1 anyway.

i was doing a little research for the most part the weights of the vehicles is about 4160 for my 2006 SRT which i think is low, lol. One website had it at 4060 which i highly doubt. For a 2012 ive seen a couple of websites state 4365. So about a 200 lbs weight difference give or take a little. These cars are fairly big, seem to be really safe i know the new motor is bigger probably as well maybe the new tranny is heavier as well, amoung other safety features they could've added to up the weight of the new SRT's. New ones pull i guess about 420-435 rwhp give or take and our cars full bolt ons if lucky with a good tune maybe 400-410rwhp giver or take. So its a close call as you guys said above.

Found this vid, kinda shocked with intake and tune it was able to keep up. Street racing i guess you'll never know what will happen. Nice looking charger in the vid though.

If this video is not complete bs then most of us 6.1L owners that have more than a few bolt ons should easily keep up with the 6.4L if not be able to pass them.

Well, my lightly modded SRT pulled 411 RWHP on the dyno with an AirHammer intake (now known as LMI), a CMR tune and Magnaflow mufflers with a reso delete.

I haven't gone into the engine yet but my plan is to eventually do a 392 forged stroker and some form of forced induction, like the Eaton/Edelbrock "E-Force" supercharger. Then I can laugh at the stock 6.4L drivers as I pull away...as long as the stock half shafts hold up...LOL

2010 SRT8 curb weight, empty = 4178 pounds (Edmunds.com) (Touring is 3725 pounds!!!)

2013 SRT8 curb weight, empty = 4387 pounds (MotorTrend.com)

Thanks Maddog for the info. Does deleting the resonators make it too loud. I might wanna do that in the near future and get a Johan tune to get a bit more power out of it. So i figured the weight was giver or take around 200 lbs. Too me thats alot, when my 112 lbs wife sits in the car i can feel the car is slower so 200 lbs makes a decent difference.

DO NOT TELL THE WIFE THAT!!! It's as if you were asked, "Do these jeans make my butt look big?" :D

I am not sure just how much difference the reso delete made the car as they came off at the same time the stock suitcase muffler came off and I put on the Magnaflows. All I can say is I like the sound.

Some folks do the muffler first, then if they want more sound, they take off the resonators. It's not a bad approach. I had just ridden in another SRT with the same set up and knew that's what I wanted.

lol, well i have to admit my wife puts up with alot of my crap. Alot of people are saying the Johan tune made a big difference compared to the canned tune from the predator. Its hard to believe till you actually do it yourself an feel the results, most of the time ive been disappointed with aftermarket mods unless you do gears, nitrous and so on basically the bigger mods. Its hard to tell a difference in power when its 10-15hp, i guess every little bit counts.

ya for sure im hitting up johan in the next few days and do some data logging. Not sure how to use the predator or how to data log, im just going to go through the booklet that it hopefully comes with and do it and send it off to him.
