Any issues with AWD to use the Mopar Long tube headers?

Iw as considering purchasing the Mopar Long tube headers and a cat back system for my 2006 AWD 300C. however i have not seen anybody with AWD add headers to their car. Can anyone confirm if this will fit my car? My dealer was not able to confirm..

If i were to add the Long Tube headers with high flow cats and a nice cat back system along with an intake.. would it be realistic to say i can achieve 30hp at the wheels?

I am having Dynatech long tube headers along with Corsa exhaust put on tomorrow. The shop has seen the headers and thinks they will work fine. I will let you know how it goes. I'll try for some pictures if they let me.

Shop didn't finish today so I'll give you an update tomorrow.

Predictable, Midnightsun.

Good luck. If your shop succeeded in accomplishing a clean, solid (quiet) install with most of the power retained they will have made history.

Hopefully you had a firm labor quote as well.

If your shop truly comes up with an acceptable way of installing long-tube headers on an AWD LX Hemi, you'd be doing your fellow AWDers a huge favor if you would post a pictoral "How to" in case anyone else also chooses to be adventuresome.

Not on purpose, Midnightsun. But I've never seen an affirmative answer whenever the question of long-tube headers being compatible with AWD LXes came up.

The forward drivetrain interferes with the proper, normal, routing of the long tubes.

Short tubes only has always been the rule when it comes to AWD LXes.

Thanks for the heads up Meister. I think I will be stopping by the shop first thing in the morning with some words of encouragement. It sounds like they might be in for a little frustration. I just don't want them to cut any corners... but they are on T&M so they should feel compelled to take the time to do it right.

I look forward to hearing good news!!!

Hey Meister.. lets say this all works well.. do you have a suggested cat back system to bolt up to the long tube headers and high flow cats?

I would go with the Corsa system, Jack. To avoid exhaust drone.

The verdict is in….the Dynatech SuperMaXX S.S. Long Tube Headers for the 300C are not made for the AWD! The headers themselves fit perfect but the trailing pipes behind high flow cats need significant reworking! To insure that the air flow remains open and the oxygen sensors remain in the right location the tubing needs to be re-bent, cut and welded. The 2’-3’ section between the cats and the Corsa system looks something like a character out of the “Corpse Bride”. The increase in shop time was probably 8 hours ($500.00). However, the end results for me were well worth it as I had CORSA Performance RSC-Dual Rear Exit Exhaust and S&B Filters Performance Intake Kit installed at the same time. WOW! What a change! But this is not just a bolt-on package!

You're a pioneer, Midnightsun. Good show at persevering and making it work. I'm sure that the extra time/money are already justified by what you've gained in grin factor.

And it's more that just that of course. Better performance, better fuel economy (if you can stay out of it occasionally ;) ) and increased driveability all result from those changes.

As I mentioned earlier, the onus is on you now to post up pics and instructions when you can - I know others will want to follow in your footsteps.

Congratulations!

As an aside to all AWDers - the same general fitment issues that Midnightsun encountered with long-tube headers apply to the HHP high flow cats. The situation there is actually worse, in all liklihood, as Random Access just today reported that he had abandoned trying to adapt them to his AWD platform.

Josh at HHP will take care of any of you who may have already purchased the high flow cats.

Yet another unfortunate negative to offset the many positives that the AWD platform provides you.

I am glad for the information! I am also glad that you were able to get it to work. I may just go with an entire JBA exhaust setup.. from Shorty headers to high flow cat to cat back and see how that goes.

I was looking at the corsa exhaust however if i chose to go with the jba headers i wanted everything to be uniform so it would all be direct bolt on.

One again i appreciate all the information you have provided!
