Could an SRT8 break 200mph?

And why hasn't anyone posted a land speed record run yet? :twak:

Highly likely. Hennessey makes a single turbo charged SRT600 kit for the SRT8 that jumps the hp up to 620, at a top speed of 186. This test was done with a Jeep 1/4 mile in 12.2, 0-60 at 3.5 sec. It's a nasty way to let everyone else see what your tail lights look like. Here's the link:

I'm sure you could have them design a twin turbo, but you're looking at fat cash with the single alone.

one of the guys, i think in or from saudi arabia, posted the other day that he hit 176 out in the desert, and the car just wouldnt go any faster. they say our cars are not speed limited, just limited by physics of the car themselves and the motor. im sure with enough money anything is possible, but i seriously doubt we will see it.

On that run he stated that it does have a speed limiter on it. DCX has sort of finally admitted that there is a limiter. When he ran that he got to like 4250 RPM and it would climb any higher, so the engine had plenty of room left, it just wouldn't let it climb like an invisible force was keeping it there, so it does indeed have a speed limiter. I don't think 200mph would be very difficult to reach, it would probably top out close to 190 as is, so with a few mods, like the 426 stroker kit or maybe even a little nitrous it would be attainable.

The car is not drag limited at 171mph. I have visited 171 atleast 20 times now in all sorts of situations. In a head wind, tail wind, up hill, down hill, with 100lbs of junk in the trunk and even with 3 other people in the car (it made 1 of them buy one). The situation that most suprised me was when I had a tail wind and going slightly down hill the car will go from 170 -171 -170 with the tach around 4200rpm for around 30 seconds. If that doesn't say it has a govenor what does...

Edit: 171mph at around 5200rpm

You are correct, I meant 5200...:pat:

My SRT-8 can go 200 mph!

I just haven't found the right cliff yet!

AND, my ACME Jet Engine won't fire up yet!

But seriously folks: If and WHEN a 300C SRT-8 is built that can go 200mph, I'd be happy to be the test pilot!

Hopefully I can beat you to it:fing02:

Will this be deleted ... ...j/k

Check your aerodynamics and downforce before you try it. All cars tend to get really ‘floaty’ and uncontrollable at high speed unless designed specifically for those speeds!

Yep. Google 1999 Le Mans Mercedes flipping. It looks like it flew up about 40-50 feet in the air. And thats with supposedly dialed-in airflow. Amazing to watch.
