Right. I had exactly the same problem. I purchased the pulleys, tensioner and belt. I got the lot from a nationwide motor factors that often do deals of 30% - 50% off on their website. The whole lot cam to around ÂŁ100.

The job took me about 2.5 hours but I was working in the dark (8pm) with an inspection lamp. The job is pretty straight forward, however your hands/arms are going to take a bit of a battering. There are plenty of sharp edges on the plastic radiator cowling. Getting the new belt on is a little tricky because its tight even with the tensioner on its restriction pin. After the repair, the car feels smother as there is less vibration from the engine. The tapping has reduced quite a bit. HOWEVER, if you think this is going to remove all tapping from the engine think again. You will still hear tapping from the injectors. Initially I was very disappointed, however if you play back the video from post #54 "start from traffic lights" you can hear his injectors regardless of new pulleys and remap.

Conclusion. It reduces vibration, much quieter, however to quieten further, you'll need to purchase a decent quality bulkhead insulation. I'm going to attempt this and over insulate the engine cover as well.

So in the end I got rid off my 300c and got S class w221 chassis from 2007 with the same engine
None of them noise problems exists here
All it comes to insulation and built quality for sure
Such a shame as 300 is a nice car

i just got the v switch, first impressions with the performance/economy map, not a significant difference in performance or economy
will try the performance map tomorrow, i have a test between two points, stock it went 50-80mph, same with perf/eco so we'll see what it does in the morning
