I have a Gen 2 with the double roof, wouldn't be without it.

Mine has the rattle for which there's a velcro solution on the forum here, otherwise it works well.

Interior on mine is black which makes it rather dark with the blind closed. I think over there you have a choice of some lighter interiors too (which I wish we had here)

 

The one I am looking to buy has dark grey seats rather than black but the headliner and the dash and door panels are black. The rattle will drive me crazy as this is supposed to be my only car with a comfortable quiet ride.

 

I love the feature. It really makes the car feel open and luxurious. Like DGO I have some creaks and rattles in it. But I also have kinda turned my car into a more track focused car so its way stiffer.say if you can find one with it go for it.

 

For me it's one of the most useless and expensive options on any car i have owned. I have had my 300c for 6 years and have perhaps used the feature less than a dozen times. Living in central FL accounts for part of it. Hot and sometimes sticky most of the time and I don't do much after sundown driving.

 

I think this feature is more about the feel (openness, luxury feel) than usefulness. The look is also improved on some cars but the car I want to buy is black and no one will be able to tell if the car has a moonroof unless they stand next to it or they sit in it. However, since many of the luxury models came with the dual panel moonroof I keep thinking I will be missing something if I don’t get one with the moonroof but man this car is clean and low mile.

 

I wish I didn’t have my moonroof. Don’t really use it in hot Phoenix, you can’t “vent” the roof and have the shade nearly closed, my past 300 with this rattled and a seal broke. Worst is, the headroom sucks. I wish I didn’t have it.

So you guys wouldn’t pass on a clean and low mile 2013 300C just because it doesn’t have the pano moonroof?

 

I probably would pass it up. It is all a personal choice. All three of my cars have had the panoramic sunroof. Mine is rarely opened (except to ensure lubrication) however I enjoy that open feeling without having to actually over it. No noise in any of them, but that just might bee due to inactivity.

You probably mean you loved it despite having those issues but if you were to choose you would get one without it!?

Miles. I love my roof. Style , never has problem or a noise. In the Notheast it’s functional. Part of a total package. It’s a good option but the car is what counts. I’ve had a 300m, a 300 C and now a 300S, with the PentiStar engine. Loved the vehicle.

Would you pass on a low mile very clean 300c just because it doesn’t have the moonroof?
I have a sunroof in my VW and i rarely open it (and it is a much smaller car) but because at used car prices the price of a 300C with or without the moonroof is almost the same I keep thinking I am missing it if I don’t get a moonroof. On the other side, 2013 is 7 years old and I plan to keep the car for 5 years at least, I am thinking the moonroof could go wrong at some point which will cost $$$ to repair.

 

Arazito, you misunderstood...my 2013 300C did NOT have the sunroof and I still loved it. I did not miss the sunroof. My 2017 300C has the sunroof and I wish it didn’t!

My wife has a 2012 300 and we both love this roof, frankly would pass on another 300 unless we had the roof, but then my car is a 200 hardtop convertible!

We like it here in TN, hence we enjoy 4 seasons including a hot humid summer. But the openness on demand is fantastic, and in the winter everyone including back seat guests enjoy the sunshine. And don’t forget night time, last months full moon is really experienced with the roof when it’s January and only 20 F. Taken the vehicle as far west as Santa Fe NM, all over east coast from FL to NY, and use the roof as weather allows. You can use the rear tilt, but frankly wind noise is much louder then with the front opened selection.

With 135K, it has weathered well with no issues except a blown fuse when 1 week old that the dealer remedied and had some small service sheet on. To each there are preferences that personally allow them to enjoy life or not, we’re in our mid 60’s, very active and find the roof gives options a non roof vehicle will never have, and you can close it and the inside shutter if you don’t feel in the mood. But you can’t open what you don’t have!

 

Glad that you are enjoying it, I think a convertible car is not comparable to pano roof. I have a regular sunroof in my current VW and maybe I have used it 5 times in 3 years here in Los Angeles and I am in my mid 30’s. I just need to decide if I want the Pano roof or I can live without it. I am going to test drive a car today that has the pano roof so I can decide.

 

I sat in a 300S today with the pano roof.
I am still 50/50 if I want the pano roof or not but I feel like I might regret not getting a 300C with a moonroof but I don’t think I will regret if I get one unless it starts giving me problems that I need to spend money on it or if it rattles. Although I am looking for a very low mileage car but it is already a 7 year old car (2013 model) and I will keep it for another 5 yrs so it is possible it might break during my ownership but I have kind of decided to hold off on this clean low mile 300C without the moonroof.
Not sure if I am making the right move since JV editions are not very common and I want an accident-free rust-free low mile car with the moonroof.
What is your opinion?

 

It’s your ride...your choice. I don’t think either choice is bad...with or without moonroof it’s a great car!

My choice is with sunroof for any car but without problems. Although it is a low mileage car, it is already 7 years old and it will be out of warranty, this is what makes it hard for me to decide.

 

I ended up buying my first ever FCA, a '18 300S partly because I could get it without the sunroof. I have mostly bought higher-end car/trucks in the past 20 years and all of them always came with a roof. I think I've opened them 4 times in 20 years. I never liked roofs, never open them, so no-brainer for me.
My wife recently got a GC and it has a roof. It's never been opened.
Just my opinion.

 

I went to Chrysler dealership in my town and straight to the service manager at the service center for recommendation. He strongly recommended to stay away from a model with the moonroof, he said they are still experiencing lots of issues with the panoramic roof.

 

In 2013 I bought a brand new Ford Tauris all loaded up. It had lots of problems, including a leaking panoramic moon roof. After taking it back numerous times and the dealer telling me "they all leak" I got fed up, and at a great loss traded a new car in for my new 2013 Chrysler 300. I never had any issues with the panoramic roof. As I mentioned before, I rarely opened it. But, that car was passed to my wife when I bought my next 300 and she and my daughter had that roof open, probably more than closed. No issues with it. And as probably mentioned earlier, no problems with the roofs in the two current cars. I can't believe these roofs are such an issue. Remember, the panoramic roof for ALL the brands, are all made by just two or three companies. There would be more of an outcry it there were problems with many of them.

 

Same experience as WOOCARES with my 2012. Not much use but no problems WSE.

 

Not a must-have for me. I keep the shade closed most of the time as the direct sunlight overhead gets hot on ya. Plus it makes the interior warner and harder for the A/C to work to keep the interior cool. But admittedly on the few nice days where you can open it up it is nice.

 

Thanks for your input, I ended up not getting one with a moonroof, I thought the car is already 7 years old and I will keep it for a long time, it is just one more thing to break and if it starts rattling it will drive me and my passengers crazy, Chrysler service center also recommended to stay away from those panoramic roofs if I have a choice, so I did.

 

Go the the Pana roof its worth every moment of pleasurable motoring..no issues with mine..just remember to clean drain holes once a year..simply pour warm water with small amount liquid cleaner mix and pour into drain tray..
