Been looking through the handbook tonight and there's fuse 41 in the boot that serves the park assist, it also does the tpms and that seems to be working ok, wierd thing is i had a puncture in one of my tyres just before this happened, the garage repaired the flat but its got me thinking about the tpms, will deffo check the fuse in the morning though. I'm sure i've seen one of jacks posts showing the park assist module in the boot as well so i guess i'll be hunting that one down for any loose connections.

Yes gonna try the fuse pull this morning, hopefully that'll sort it, do you know whereabouts the park assist module is located jack?

Its within the rear quater panel vacinity, not too far from the car battery

If i remember right, can be disabled in EVIC.
May be worth while checking it hasnt disabled itself for some strange reason.
If isnt disabled you could try disabling it then take it on a short run while disabled, then enable it again ?
Only clutching at straws really, prob typical comms glitch.

yes I thought of that earlier on Jack and tried to disable it in the evic but it wont let me turn it off which seems strange.

Just checked drawings and allsorts of other equip wired to same Canbus.

If pulling fuse for Park Assist Module for while doesnt fix it, I would personally disconnect battery for a few minutes and hope it sorts itself out.
If that doesnt fix it I would unplug all sensors from Park Assist Module and try with no sensors connected in case one is dragging system down for some reason. (Would then have to check if system can be enabled/disabled on EVIC) or plug sensors back in, one at a time.


EDIT
Bear in mind system will only enable itself when Reverse is selected. ( I know its obvious, but thought I'd better mention it) :lick:

Check all sensors for shorts to chassis while unplugged.
Codes may be stored but I assume a basic machine won't read them.

Yes could easily sort itself out.
Play the waiting game. Lol. Not as though its critical.
Dont forget to try disconnecting battery before you start delving too deep though.

You may get back to us and say its sorted itself out.

Thanks for the reply jack, much appreciated, know what you mean about technology....its a proper pain when it goes south, i wouldn' t really want to go back to the old days but i could always fix my 1300cc ohv mk1 ford escort, everything was a doddle in them days, no canbus electronics to throw a wobbly !!. Regards disconnecting the battery my only concern is losing the radio as i haven't got the 4 digit pin to re input and to be honest i' d rather lose the sensors than my music.

unless the radio has been changed and not registered any MAIN dealer can supply the code free of charge.
I lost mine when the battery was disconnected for a couple of days.
Rang the supplying dealer but as they are only franchised they couldnt help.
A call to the nearest main dealer got the code instantly with just the car reg number.

Just checking if it has been sorted? Did you replace the module, check the wiring & sensors?

Been looking for the module this afternoon but i can' t find the thing, gonna look through one of the service manuals tonight to try and find the location, even tried looking underneath the bumper but cannot see anything as i have a towbar, i'm not even sure what the module looks like.

The module is in the boot behind the wheel arch trim above the battery.
You need to remove the trim to find it.

Managed to find the park assist module but all the wires and connections look ok, even disconnected the multiplug and re connected but still dead, i'll ask petman at next weeks meet to check for any codes.

Its a bit of a pain to get to so i can't see anybody volunteering to take theirs out to be honest, i'll see if petman gets me any codes next week, i may try fleabay or a breakers to see if i can get a replacement module, failing that its down to the local pet shop for a couple of little kittens to fix to the bumper, they squeak when you've backed up too far

Thanks Jack, i have a downloaded manual on my laptop so i'll take a look, do you think it would be possible to use the existing sensors on an after market setup if it turned out the module was dead?
