radio turning on automatically

I'm still wading thru the owner's manual so maybe I'll find it eventually but wife was asking about this so I'd better hurry. The radio turns on automatically every time she starts the car, even if she last had it off. I verified that it is happening. How do I make it stop?

Thanks,

I think I figured it out. When you leave the screen on the Radio section the radio pops on when you start the car. If you leave the screen on Controls or Climate or any other section, life is good.

Got the garage door opener thing configured, phone paired. Salesman characterized the 300c as "a computer with wheels." Seems about right. Hope it's not a cranky as my other 'putters.

Yeah, today it seemed to be happening again. There *has* to be a way to not have the radio pop on. Sheesh. Maybe I need to make some media of silence? Seriously, it should be something simple, right?

I didn't see where to put details about the car in my profile. Here's the verbiage from the sticker. I didn't see anything succinct like what trim it was. Maybe you veterans can tell me.

Well mine does not come on automatically if it is off when I stop the car. Why not simply turn the volume down to zero. It will be at zero when you restart.
I was going to suggest that too.

Ha - I guess I never noticed [that my radio comes on] because of all the usual din in my household from any number of radios or TVs. Silence is golden, er, at least to my recollection. ;-)

Thought about "zero." In a car with some much configurable stuff it seems odd to have to resort to that though. Now I had a car once that the radio would just spontaneously turn on like there were ghosts in the dash. But this "on every time" must be something subsidized by Big Radio.

Congrats on the new car!

The trim level you have is the "C".

Unfortunately as has been said I believe the default is for the radio to come on. I have had some success turning the radio off before shutting the car off.

The remote start also starts without the radio playing (it comes on), but it will start playing once you get in the car and are prompted to hit the start button.

part of the issue is there is a profile associated with the key fob that gets loaded. Perhaps your wife can set the cars memories up the way she likes, including turning the radio off. Then set one of the memory buttons. Then make sure the car is setup so that the memories are loaded associated with the keyfob.

Then when she gets in, the car should load up according to her key and the radio will be off.

hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip Cool. Sounds like kind a long way around the mulberry bush to approx. what we used to do by turning a knob, but hey.

Wife characterizes the car as "bossy" and has a fairly significant list of other stuff she'd like me to tweak/disable. I drove it the other night for the first time and the blind spot detection scared the crap outta me!

I'll spend more time configuring it shortly. Thanks!

Bossy is a good word for it, but more like a car designed for the blind and stupid. With all these gadgets, bells and whistles, why do people need driving tests?. I really don't think it makes driving safer, if anything it makes people lazy. They become totally unaware of their surroundings until something buzzes or beeps at them. If I figure how to turn all that crap off, I will let you know.

Have you tried checking Settings or Menu or More. They are soft keys. Using "More"............ Push the screen Radio soft key. Once the radio is on, look on the lower right hand corner of the screen, for the soft key "MORE". When the More S/K is initiated, the "More" option/settings screen appears. There may be an option there that states......."Radio on, each time vehicle is started"........... or something like that. If it is and that option has a check mark.................remove it. Then you should be good to go !
There are many other options as well you might want to turn on or off in the "More" option screens. If your "More" screen does not have the option described above, check "Settings" or "Menu".
