Red light on dash between fuel gauge and speedometer on 2006 300. Engine starts then stalls when light is on. After several attempts to start it the red light did not come on and car ran fine. Owners manual shows light but does not indicate what it is for. Any ideas???

It may be the Check Engine Light (CEL) but we are gonna need a bit more info to be able to help you with the problem.

Since there are over 700 conditions that can light this up, you can narrow it down by having your control module read. Most auto parts stores will do this for free and even give you a print out.

Don't go with the description of the code they give you, just post up the code. If this re-occurs, it will set a hard code after 3 full ignition cycles (key on, key off X 3) and it won't clear itself.

So get the code read and post it up here. Then we can certainly help.

Also, having your vehicles mileage posted up will also be handy.

I thinking by the position that he indicated of the light by his post, that its the Vehicle Theft Alarm(VTA).

I know "0" about this computerized ....@#$%^
I own a 2006 300C, & btw: Love driving this HEMI!! However, when reading the directions to program a new key fob, that little red light was a necessary part of the instruction. It apparently is part of the anti theft (as mentioned before) module & the key reports to it & vice versa.
As already mentioned, change the battery in your fob. I also know that with a new key/fob that is cut using the original and not yet programmed, you can start your car but, it will quit running in a matter of seconds...
My poor husband thought that our truck was very sick....then I pointed out that he had the key that was not programmed...lol!
