i'm having a oil leak in the front of my 300,at first i tought it was the transmission but a quick check yesterday before going to work sowed that the power steering fluid was down so that proves it comes from one of the steering parts anyone know what the problem might be?

In my case it was a leaky hose at about 6,000 miles. It was a hose up by the power steering fluid reservoir. The hose was wet - quite evident.

i hope that it's just a hose then, the leak seems to be not to bad as there is only a few drops in my garage when parked over night

i was at the shop and it was the transmission leaking on the bellypan(do i use the correct word?)we changed the oil few weeks ago and placed a new filter, wednesday we saw a little oil in de corner so we cleaned it and they put some special oilproof silicone around the bellypan now it's just a drop or 3 overnight,i called the shop and monday the gonna drain the oil take of the pan and silicone it again, they say there is no"rubber"available to put between the transmission and the pan so it has to be done like that,we know now what it is and i am happy that it's not a hoge cost, any tips on this problem or how to do it Northern?thanx for the respond

sounds like your dealer is a moron. No gasket for teh tranny pan, are they theat stupid and idiotic?

It's the tranny electrical connector that has a bad o-ring on it that allows the conenction to leak fluid out.

Get the tsb and show them, or take it to another dealer seeing yours sounds like a monkey farm.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to do my 42K-mile oil change and tire rotation. While I had the car elevated I snapped a couple of pix to illustrate the relationship of the tranny, oil pan, and the "belly pan".
Image

First, note that the electrical connector associated with the leaky tranny O-ring problem is not even in the picture. It is off the frame to the left.

Second, note that the "belly pan" ends at the crossmember.

Third, note that the joint between the tranny and the oil pan is several inches to the rear of the rear edge of the "belly pan", so any leak between them would not land on the "belly pan", but directly on the floor.

Now then, if you are saying "bellypan" and meaning "oil pan" then there could be a leak between the tranny and the oil pan, or an engine oil leak between the bottom of the engine block and the top of the oil pan, which would not hit the "belly pan" and/or could be blown by air flow rearward, and eventually drip from the car onto the floor somewhere rearward of the "belly pan".

As can be imaged by looking at the relationship of the tranny, oil pan, and the crossmember (while keeping in mind that the oil pan has the bottom half of the crankshaft filling its interior) if the leak is between the tranny and the oil pan, or between the oil pan and the engine block, and the stealership intends to remove the oil pan and "put some special oilproof silicone around the bellypan" (actually the oil pan) they are in for a MAJOR effort, which usually equates to major $$$.$$.

Keep us informed of their progress. And good luck!

thanx for the pic man now i can see that it's not there that's the problem i'm sorry not to use the correct word of the part, the leak is more to the left out of the picture,

"the leak is more to the left out of the picture", then it's the either the dreaded O-ring or the transmission's oil pan (the big, flat-bottomed box attached to the bottom of the tranny).

The O-ring issue is well-known (at least here in the States). The fix takes 15 minutes, if they have the part.

Personally, I can believe that the tranny's oil pan might not have a gasket per se. New cars use silicon "form-a-gasket" type gaskets everywhere. The only way to do the job right is to drop the oil pan, which is not a bad job as everything is readily accessible. They will have to refill the transmission with new oil because when the pan is dropped the oil goes everywhere, unless they can first syphon it out through the dipstick (which we don't actually have) tube.

Let us know how you make out, and what it cost, even if it's in Belgium Francs!

yeah it's the transmission's oil pan that's leaking a little,i'm waithing on the call from my friend at the shop when he has a gasket for it otherwise we have to make one, that O ring is in there i guess?we better check on that to then?
i will post pics from the repair and the costs on it,i hope it will be fixed this week
thanx for the help

The O-ring issue has to do with the electrical connector located at the front right bottom of the tranny.

the leak is fixed and we had to do it again with the liqiud stuff,i ordered a gasket and they give the engine oil pan gasket, after returning it to the shop and explaining what i needed they called their supplier with my chassinumber and again they said that you got to do it with the liquid stuff(shop nr 3 whit this answer)this shop has everything you can imagine for usa cars so i give up the search for"real gasket"

#17 ·
Like I said before, I can believe that there is not a traditional gasket, such as paper or rubber or silicon, but a semi-liqiud goop that is applied to the pan just before bolting it up to the tranny.
So, it seems like your problem is solved then.
Besides the additional gray hairs on your head, what did it cost? And where are those pictures you mentioned?

my friend at the shop did it for free,i forgot to take the camera bro sorry,i was in my garage a few minutes ago and i was feeling the pan under the car and she was greasy again so my problem maybe will come back after only sealing the problem for four days man this getting on my nerves,3 shops saying no gasket available and point to a liquid solution is there anyone that can give me a online adress for a gasket so i can order one?
