Forum members, hopefully everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Anyways, I'm curious, where are you at regarding mileage? How are your vehicles holding up? How far will they go? Are they honda-style 200k+Miles? I'm just more sensitive towards mileage now that I've got a premium sedan. I'm hoping she'll at least go 150K miles....my stats: 2006 - 49,000Miles - no major issues.

I know of several 150k+ 6.1's over at lxf. There's a few 200k+ 5.7's as well, one of which has been cammed for something like 80k miles.

I too am hoping for a long life. I just got my C with 55K on it. Seems to have been reasonably well cared for. I know the 3.5L is a reliable engine--I have a 1st gen 3.5 in my old LHS and it's got 260K on it. Still uses less than a qt. of oil between changes, and it has never been babied. (though it has had Mobil-1 for most of its life) AFAIK, the 5.7 Hemi is rock solid too, based on web research. It probably doesn't hurt that the 5.7 isn't even working up a sweat to move the car unless you stomp on it all the time.

My worry is the 15,000 electronic options on these, as well as the Daimler tranny.

Like Dave says - the 5 speed German tranny in our cars is one of the toughest units ever put into production cars. It has been used by AMG; Jaguar; McLaren; and others for high end supercars; features a 3 stage torque conversion system and seems to handle HP outputs of 600 without failures.

A little tuning with a chip tuner and it can put out very fast up and down shifts, with a smoothness that is sweet (especially if you are on a road racing circuit).

I just hope that the new 8 speed will be as rugged.

If they buy the 8 speed ZF autobox it is a really nice trans. Already used in top of the line Beemers and such, great torque capacity and only the last two gears are OD!

I can't speak from personal experience because my 2005 300C has only 15,400 miles on it (no that's not a misprint), but I have absolutely no doubt that the major drivetrain components (Engine, Transmission, and differential) are virtually bulletproof. I'm a little less optimistic, but not overly concerned, with the electronics and 'gadgets' over the long haul. Only time will tell on that stuff, but so far I've had very few problems.

Well here is an interesting tidbit, I was recently at a srt driving experience (Oct 20 Las Vegas) and over lunch conversation with "Rick from team shake and bake" the question was posed in regard to maintanence. According to Rick they recieve new cars in Feb and the will put on 6000 to 7000 miles on the track. These stock cars are punished! On a cool day engine temp where running 225 -230 F. They go through a set of tires every 3 to 5 days (somtimes one day ), brakes in a week. their maitanence included oil changes and air filters. They VERY rarley experience any other failure. The afternoon on the road track they filled the poor abused cars with gas no less than two or three times. Rick expects 6000miles on the track would equal 80,000 miles on the street. The 300's we drove all had between 6000 and 7000 miles on them and they seemed as solid and my 2010 csrt8 with 30,000 km (17,000 miles) The srt track experience is really a proving grounds for srt. I now have a whole new respect for the build of our cars.

i'm pumped to hear some good reviews on the heritage of chrysler! Thanks for the feedback!! How about some long term road testing on the SRT8s?! Clearly these machines are built for abuse>>>>but where it everyone at regarding mileage??

Wow, 160k miles. Any major problems?
I keep a log book in KM this is what I have replaced. 46,000 rear pads, 92,000 front rotors and pads and front wheel bearing. 100,000 cruise control stopped working (not fixed yet) 153,000 fuel pump. 160,000 passengers seat switch, ABS sensor on passenger side. 191,000 front pads replaced, 216,000 passenger side tie rod replaced, 225,000 headlight switch frozen in auto position (not fixed yet), 242,000 rear rotors and pads replaced. I still have orginal plugs, battery is a bit weak, have replaced 3 windshields, one bent wheel (got a used one off of this site), tires, car came with F1, then 2 sets of RSA, 2 sets of Prokza 4, currently set is Firestone Firehawk GT, fixed 9 flats, all on passenger's rear. 300 still runs strong, I got it when it had 394km on it now has 257,000 km. great car it has averaged 23.3 MPG (that is imperial gallon) has more than 4100 hours on motor. everything else is orginal, it has been to 275km (171) 4 or 5 times, last time I was to 270km (168) was at 151,000 miles in May. It still pulled strong all the way, this car has never missed a beat, given the oil mileage (about 6 or 7000 to the quart) I would venture to say this SRT8 will still be going passed 400,000 km (250,000 miles) I shall keep you posted, I hope that I am the first to 200,000 miles!

Does 41K miles count as high mileage? LOL

I forgot to mention, I have run regular 87 since about 10,000km and I have not had any problem. It does not seem to make any difference in the performance. I have had it down the track 19 times, it runs consistently, 13.1-13.2 @ 110-111, my best time is 13.04 @ 111.55 and it runs strong to 170 MPH at 5600 feet.

SO is about $3.20 for a 16 gallon fill-up really going to kill you? It is a performance motor, and in the long run may bight you back.

Is that 1/4 mile track at 5600 feet too? If so - that's amazing!!! In fact, I don't believe it unless you have the rare 525 hp model ;)

Or it was down a steep hill :)

Nice to see ya Lucky! It's been a while.

I expected a lot out of this car when I bought it but NEVER expected it to be as good as it has been.

Stock motor to 102,000 miles. Procharger installed at 62,000 miles.

Forged motor installed by choice and now 104,500 miles.

95,000 miles and no issues.

The SS 1/4 was at about 900 feet, the high speed runs up to 275km have been done at 5600 feet, on a mainly flat run for about 2 miles, with slight upgrade at the end. It has hit the speed limiter at that point and was pulling strong up to that point, I figured it had another 10 to 15 km in it, as I have said before I believe bone stock this car should run about 178-180 mph on the flat at sea level. I have to run it at 5600 feet because that is the only place around here where the police are not that often and also the only place in British Columbia that is somewhat flat for that distance without traffic.

I've got 113,000 miles on my 6.1. Bigjim has 300,000+ on his 5.7. MCaesar has 205,000+ on his 6.1. No rebuild, no oil use, no smoke,... no issues.

So... yeah; you can expect a LOT of miles out of this car.
