Not sure if this has been covered

If so, sorry for the repost.

OK, I was with a couple of mopar guys last night and they told me about this trick to turn off (Completely turn off) the traction control (ESP) without using a tune

1) start the car, put it in drive and drive while keeping the speedo over 15MPH

2) while the speedo is over 15mph, turn the ignition key to the right (as if you're starting the car & hold it for 3 seconds)
Don't worry about damaging the starter or something as the car has a lockout protection that protects the starter when the car is running
You will hear a beep and you will see the ESP & traction control icons light up

Now they are completely off

doing this will disable the ESP and torque management.

While doing this, I noticed a significant improvement in the torque as well as a slight chirp of the tires. Not much chirp since I have AWD. But I'm sure you guys with RWD will have a little more fun
To test it, fine a nice stretch of road (empty if possible). begin from a stand still, and gunn it and enjoy being pinned against your seat

To turn the ESP back on, or put everything back to normal, Just park the car, turn the car off and start it again.

Here's a simple vid I did as well

Excellent "How-To", BK. I will move this over to 'Electronics for Performance" and make it a sticky.

SRT8 owners please note: To turn the ESP completely off in an SRT, depress and hold the ESP button for about 10 seconds.
A message will come up in the EVIC saying that it is completely off.
It will reset to Full On the next time you start your car.

You can also turn off just the traction control by holding the traction control button at first start up until you hear beep about 6 seconds also it is best to put car in neutral when doing the moving key thing at 15-20 mph for full turn off of the esp system.

Not sure if you guys know this; but the Diablo Predator tuner has a setting that allows you to do basically the same thing, but it also disables the Anti-lock brakes ( which I use at the Drag Races) When I'm going home, just plug back in to the tuner and re-set as this does not re-set its self when you re-start the motor.

Yes
THis technique completely turns off the ESP/BAS. But your ABS still works

I believe the point of teh ESP button is to limit/lower the sensitivity of the traction control.
But it won't completely turn off the traction control. Basically still giving you a security net
Also, by pressing the factory button, it does not do anything with the BAS

DO NOT PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL!!!!

The car will try to start while it's already running.
If the car is in gear, it has a safety lockout feature For the starter(or something to that nature) that wont allow it to start when in a gear.
This feature is disengaged when the car is in park or neutral

gonna give it a try tomorrow morning. if parking and turning the car off disables it, then i assume you gotta do it again each time?

It's weird that it works with some cars and not other.
I just tried it again for the hell of it and it still works...LOL
I would say it depends upon the build date of the car, but that theory was thrown out the window
